Nice place, simple menu, wish I would have come on Wednesday for burnt ends! The brisket was tender and moist, thick cuts. I was not a impressed with the ribs, a little dry and flavorless on my visit. Waitress was very polite. And I love any reuse of old “downtown” brick buildings, so great atmosphere.

First time in and we were very impressed with the quality of the food and the amazing service we received. Our food was fast and excellent. The barbecue sauces were all different and so good. I think my favorite thing was the elote salad. Nachos could have leveled up, in our opinion, with cheese instead of cheese sauce but the beans were a great saucy addition. Definitely will be back!

We decided to try Boxer again last Friday and it was very disappointing. It was take out and all of us ordered a pulled pork sandwich. The meat was lukewarm at best and we live fairly close to the restaurant. There was not a great deal of meat on any of the sandwiches and some were quite fatty and some had large burnt chunks as seen in the picture. The flavor was not great and overall just not very good pulled pork.
Two were combos and with one of the sandwiches, we ordered a side order of fries, which were good, but maybe 15 fries for $5 is a bit extreme. The cheesy hashbrowns were also pretty good The coleslaw was fine, basic, and tasted like it came from Hy Vee.
Boxer used to have pretty solid BBQ, but things have changed over time and they are not what they used to be. BBQ Brothers continues to be my go to for BBQ as their food and quality is much better and they are highly recommended.

BBQ was incredible! Brisket was juicy and flavored, ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, and the jalapeno sausage was delicious. Corn bread was a great choice in the side. The coleslaw was a bit disappointing but still decent. The bread pudding?… Wow… I entered hopefully and left incredibly satisfied.

This may be the best BBQ you can get in town.
I was greeted by Daisy and sat in a booth since it wasn’t too busy. Tasha was my server and was as sweet as can be.
Everything was great. The brisket was excellent. And there were three sauces to choose from that were so good. The catfish was amazing. I particularly enjoyed the south seasoning used. And my 2 sides (red skin potato salad and cornbread) were dead on.
Why anyone would eat this food to go is beyond me. In fact, they have a community table right in the middle of the restaurant where it is encouraged to get off the phone and start a conversation with the people around you. I love this.
If you’re going with a group or just by yourself…try that table. You might see me there with no phone in hand when you do.

Tried this spot for lunch, typical BBQ joint. The BBQ was pretty good, unfortunately I had a lot of fatty pieces in my brisket sandwich.. for a side I tried the corn and french fries. The corn was okay, a little heavy on the mayo. Fries are typical BBQ joint fries.. my wife did the half pulled pork half brisket sandwich (mooing pig) and stated she really enjoyed it. For reference I would avoid the cornbread. I would definitely come back and eat here again as the brisket was cooked really well .

Great food and atmosphere
The food is excellent. I had a brisket sandwich with beans and cornbread. Lots of choices.
The bathrooms are clean and so is the restaurant.
The service is great and our server was awesome!

If you’re looking for barbecue with no flavor, no smoke, and no customers, Boxer Barbecue might be the place for you. The food was lukewarm and completely unseasoned, literally zero taste. There was also no smoky smell when we walked in, which should have been our first warning sign. The place was completely empty on a Saturday afternoon, and now we understand why.
The portions were small, the prices were high, and the baby back ribs looked like they’d been through something traumatic before landing on the plate. Overall, this was an overpriced, underwhelming experience that confirmed all the red flags we ignored upon arrival.
Note.., The one Star is for the kind staff and the beautiful facility

I had a great dining experience at Boxer Barbecue from the quick and friendly service at lunchtime to the AMAZING cornbread. Best of my life-with the butter glaze. And the Elote corn was scrumptious-perfect blend of ingredients, all for a reasonable price. I visited a second time in June 2025 and had a similar great experience! Service from Cheryl was top notch and the North by Northwest red wine was divine. We’ll be back soon!

This place was excellent. Our only issue was the Mac and Cheese was a bit watery and bland. The rest of the food was great. We started with the meatballs and those were amazing. We then shared the 3 meat platter with the chicken, brisket and baby back ribs. All were very tasty and the spicy, sweet and smoky sauces were all good. We added extra sides to get the cornbread, baked beans, spicy pickles and Mac and Cheese. These were also excellent except the Mac and Cheese. The server was very nice and the place has a great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
