Was so excited to try this place out.
Food was alright. It is a hole in the wall gem. But I think for the price, the portions could’ve been bigger. We went to many other places in Nova Scotia and PEI and found Freddie’s to be considered on the pricier side for portion size.
Lobster was good on the roll, but what I think was the shining food was the fried clam strips. I wanted to order another plate. I think it outshone the lobster this time. The lobster came in tiny little buns the size of a wonder hot dog bun.
Service was really good. Super patient and very friendly.
Parking was very easy. It’s in an industrial area but for the amount of spots available, it was more than sufficient.

This was a quick stop over to grab some fish and chips and lobster roll , most of the items were great, but nothing extraordinary!

I came to Halifax for a trip these two days and accidentally discovered this small fast food restaurant. But don’t be fooled by this small shop, the fish and chips here are really amazing. Not only are the portions large, but the fish and chips are fried to perfection. I also recommend the fish burger, which is a whole piece of fish, which is simply amazing. The service staff’s work attitude is also very serious, not like the attitude of employees in an ordinary fast food restaurant at all, and there are outdoor seats here. If I weren’t here for a trip, I would definitely come back!

I’ve lived 5 minutes away for 4 years and just finally tried this place last week! Went in for the clams and fries on my first visit. Perfectly cooked and good portion. Today took a friend for his first time and we both did lobster rolls. Truly amazing!! Lots of lobster, they go light on mayo so you can still taste lobster and no celery or other fillers but a leaf or two of lettuce. Service was friendly and fast too!

For its price, the food portion size are too small. The lobster roll was the size of a children menu hot dog.
The seafood chowder was good. Just the volume was too small.

paid $49 for two small meals, and honestly the portions were disappointing for the price. On top of that, I found a fish bone in my food, which was unpleasant. The tables also weren’t very clean and I noticed some flies inside. I really hope the restaurant can improve, because the food itself had potential

Read the reviews and got the fish and chips and chowder, fish batter was thicker and greasier than I expected, but still good. Chowder was okay, lots of potato and carrots, little bits of salmon, one scallop. Prices are decent

I don’t recommend Fredie’s Fantastic Fishhouse. I ordered the half seafood platter. The scallops were good but the rest was terrible. The clams were small, very greasy, and tasted burnt. I remember getting really good clams here last summer so this was a big disappointment. The fish was overcooked and dry and the fries were cold. I ordered takeout but opened it in the parking lot and was there when they packed it so it wasn’t sitting in packaging more than a couple of minutes. The staff was very friendly.

I’m writing this for you because I used to go here all the time it became one of my favourite fish and chip places but ever since a lot of the staff have changed a lot of of the food has changed. I just made an order today and there were so much grease from the fish it was soggy you couldn’t even eat it. The container was full of oil. The chips were half soggy. The food does not taste like it used to nor do they put in the time and effort to pack your food. if you really want a good fish and chips place to go I definitely recommend bud the spud instead of Freddy’s fantastic Fish
