Nautically themed British watering hole with classic pub grub, international beers & outdoor patio.

Crown & Anchor is a fantastic spot for a great meal and a relaxed evening.
We stopped here for dinner while staying at Hotel Pacific, and it turned out to be a wonderful choice.
Ray ordered the corned beef and cabbage and absolutely loved it — flavorful, comforting, and very well done. He also enjoyed their shot-and-a-beer option, which is a fun addition to the menu. He had a Hefeweizen beer paired with Buffalo Trace bourbon, and it was perfect.
I ordered the pastrami melt with Swiss, and it was outstanding — truly delicious. The sandwich was served on a great onion roll, which made it even better. And the clam chowder deserves special mention — easily one of the best clam chowders I can remember having.
Our server, Christal, was wonderful. She was friendly, attentive, gave great recommendations, and clearly takes pride in her work. If you have the chance, sit in her section — she really enhances the experience.
Excellent food, great drinks, and top-notch service. We’ll absolutely return next time we’re in Monterey.tiktok wegotschwag

Update: went for dinner with husband this time. Super delicious steak pie, though filling could be a bit thicker. Husband was in love with his steak sandwich and fries. Was very excited that they have Delirium on tap.
Cool little pub hidden in a side street. Has a lovely little outdoor space where I say and enjoyed a Guinness on tap and chips. I look forward to returning to try more stuff! Service was super friendly and prompt, to boot.

The food, atmosphere and service were among the best I’ve ever experienced at any restaurant. The quality and presentation of the food was stellar especially considering the reasonable pricing. I can tell the kitchen staff holds themselves to a very high standard. A must visit in Monterey!

Went here for dinner after a long day of driving to get to Monterey for a vacation. Our schedule for the day was running late and by the time we were able to go eat dinner we were exhausted. We were going to go on the Fisherman’s Wharf as the whole place is posted as “open till 10” on Google. But by the time we got to the restaurant where we wanted to go we found we walked all the way there and they were already closed. So we looked hard on the map to find a highly rated local place that served fish and chips and found The Crown & Anchor really close by, and they’re open late! We hurried down and were greeted by a friendly staff and sat immediately. We ordered their seafood sampler to split. Holy fish it was a huge plate of food! Definitely enough for 2-3 people. It was all cooked perfectly as well and delicious. The staff were all very quick and kind. The atmosphere inside is definitely welcoming and homey. They saved us from being disappointed and going to fast food or Dennys for the night. Thank you Crown & Anchor!

Absolutely amazing food. Our waiter David didn’t seem to care for us too much and didn’t know how to pour water properly, consistently splashing the table, but the nice blue haired waitress helped us out some to compensate.
But again, the food was absolutely incredible, particularly the chicken pie that we ordered, as well as the potato wedge appetizers. We’d come back!
Edit: came back the next day, food was still absolutely phenomenal and the service was much better too! The waitress Cayla was personable and provided great service.

After a day at the Aquarium and shopping on Cannery Row, Claire and I visited The Crown & Anchor for dinner and drinks. British owned and operated; nautically-themed atmosphere; vegetarian and vegan choices on the menu; 20 international and craft beers on tap; and a heated, full-service patio. “You will be a stranger here but once,” boasts the staff and signage at the establishment. Claire ordered the English Fish and Chips with a Scrimshaw Pilsner and Four Roses Small Batch Bourbon; I ordered Shannon’s Corned Beef and Cabbage with a Smithwick’s Irish Ale and Redbreast Irish Whiskey (12 years). Reluctantly, I shared with Claire a yummy Sticky Toffee Pudding. Everything — food, drink, atmosphere, service — was among some of the best that we have experienced at any restaurant; welcoming and homey, to say the least. We definitely recommend this pub for an authentic, British experience while visiting Central Coast California!

My wife and I spent 4 nights and 5 days in Monterey. We ate at Crown and Anchor three of those nights. Michael was our server the first night. He made great suggestions and is a human being with a great spirit. We had clam chowder all three nights (yum). We highly recommend the Cottage Pie, Fish and Chips, Sand Dabs, and Spicy Meatloaf. The atmosphere is awesome and the service is top notch. Cheers.

Apart from the loud F bombs I kept hearing about some Navy stories from a waiter, the food and Decor is unmatched outside the UK. The food is phenomenal, and the atmosphere is magical! Will recommend with no hesitation to anyone. Great dessert as well! Definitely come here for an authentic experience.
