Parking was a breeze, thanks to their dedicated lot. We were warmly greeted by the host and seated at a comfortable booth. The waiter was quick to bring us hot tea, and since we knew exactly what we wanted, we placed our order right away.
Our food arrived promptly. While I was excited for both dishes, the oyster omelette was the undeniable star. It came with a variety of accompanying sauces, and the omelette itself was phenomenal. Every bite was packed with juicy oysters, and the fluffy egg batter was simply delicious. Paired with the spicy chili sauce, it created a flavor explosion that danced on my taste buds.
Unfortunately, the Hainanese chicken with rice was just okay. I was disappointed to find that they used soy sauce instead of the traditional ginger scallion sauce. The rice, cooked in poached chicken stock, was bland and lacked depth. The absence of garlic or ginger in the stock was noticeable, and it left the dish feeling a bit lackluster. The flavor of the chicken stock is what makes this dish so special, but sadly, this version was missing that key element.

The ambiance of the restaurant was lovely. The booths were spacious enough to seat four to six people comfortably, and there were also tables available. Beautiful flowers lined the borders, and the interior had a warm and calming feel.
We felt rushed as we were told so many times that kitchen was closing soon although the restaurant closes at 10pm.
The chicken satay was the only thing that was good enough to eat. The Tom yum soup was very sour and was served cold. Chicken green curry was flavorless and when I asked for some chillies, I was told they have nothing. Then a server got me some chilli sauce as I insisted for something to add some flavor.
We also ordered lamb rendang which was definitely overpriced for the size and flavor of the dish.
I understand that we walked in a later than they were used to but the restaurant was still opened. In this day and age when Mom and pop restaurants are competing with the big wig names they really need to step up their game with service and especially the taste of the food.
We were very fond of Penang a couple of years ago and It’s very unfortunate that this experience was highly disappointing.
We ordered all the food that we have been craving for;
*Nasi Lemak
*Penang Satay with Peanut Butter dip
*Roti Canai
*Penang Char Kway Teow
*Bah Kut Teh Soup
*Spring Rolls
*Fried Rice
Of course, never complete without our favorite desserts :
*Thai Mango
*Thai Iced Tea with Pearls
*Sticky Rice
*Mochi
*Fried Ice Cream
*Halo-Halo Shaved Ice (Malaysian Version)
The place is well lit, very open and spacious. It was not crowded and we didn’t have to wait to be seated. Best for family dinners. The food was quickly served. Food price is reasonable, quite the average rate for Thai/Malaysian restaurants in the area, approximately 150USD for the 4 of us which is around 8,000 in Philippine peso.
The staff were very nice, super friendly too and our waiter was speaking to us in Filipino. Awesome experience over all! Would love to take friends there again sometime. Looking forward!
Most of the food was good, the only thing we will not order Hakka Crispy Pork ever again (not my cup of tea) and the boba chewiness was not that good either.
But other than that everything was great.

Just recently had our lunch in here today on August 9th 2025.
We were party of 5 ppl and my husband realized they charged 20% gratuity on our bill on top of they suggested more tips below to 20-30-40%. Where we eating? High end luxury restaurant?? We’re just eating in Edison NJ Penang restaurant
The Malaysian pork chop was outstanding—crispy, savory, and perfectly paired with fragrant coconut rice that tied everything together beautifully. Absolute comfort food done right.
Do yourself a favor and get the roti canai, and ask for it a bit soft. It comes out pillow-like, warm, and indulgent, and when dipped into their curry sauce it’s pure happiness in every bite.
This place is a true Edison, NJ staple for a reason—consistently delicious food, real hospitality, and flavors that keep you coming back.
