I have been going to this diner since the owners purchased it decades ago.
I must say I’ve eaten at so many different places and by far this is the best place for high-quality food.
The best service on earth, and the owners certainly know how to treat their customers, they are kind they have good old-fashioned welcomeness.
I can’t say there’s one thing I love about this diner, but I do enjoy the fresh salad bar.
It’s very rare that you go somewhere and you find a salad bar, but the salad bar has a very large selection and everything is super clean and fresh. It’s just a good feeling in the Huck Finn diner.
I also enjoy the spacious dining room.
It feels like an open space top notch restaurant !
All the waiters and waitresses are super kind and friendly….there’s just a good energy and a great feeling .
The parking is ample and I love the fact that there’s a front and back and side parking lot ….so if I could give 50 stars I would!
Thank you George, Irene, John and John and the entire HUCK FINN STAFF ( Donna & Miguel…. BEST SERVICE EVER) for making my family and I feel like a home away from home!!!!!!

My family and I stopped here on a whim passing through. One of the best diner experiences we’ve had in a long time. We all got different dishes and they were all amazing. The soups were fantastic I ate all of mine and I am not a soup person. Our server was wonderful pleasant and attentive.
My only qualm being a larger size person and larger size family the booths were way to small, however I asked if we could be switched to a table and they were more then happy to accommodate us.
I would highly recommend and if I am ever in the area again will absolutely stop by again.

I used to regularly come here with a friend. We would order one of their dinners, which we would split, along with a couple of glasses of wine each. Instead of soup, my friend and I would grab a plate and load up from the salad bar. There was an instance where a couple of mushroom were falling off the top, so I grabbed a second plate (which I typically used to put dressing on, instead of slathering the salad in it) and put the couple of mushrooms on that plate. At that moment, I assume one of the owners, started barking at me about how I’m only allowed one plate for the salad bar as I only ordered one dinner. This guy was literally watching me and, I guess, had a real problem with how much I had put on my plate from the salad bar. If that wasn’t weird enough, for literally the entirety of the meal, he kept coming by our table and looking at our food, or watching us from afar and scowling. All this over the fact that, apparently, he was not happy with how much I had put on my plate from the salad bar. I guess being annoyed at a customer over a plate of cucumbers and tomatoes is more important than the fact that that customer frequents your restaurant. Problem solved as I’ll never be back. Why subject yourself to such an uncomfortable and unpleasant dining experience over salad. The icing on the cake was that both my friend and I experienced stomach issues after this final meal.

I visited Huck Finn Diner on yesterday (Thursday) afternoon at around 5:30pm. The diner was not very busy and the parking was easy. I was greeted immediately upon entering the diner and was promptly brought to my booth where I was left with their menu for a few minutes before a waiter came up to me to take my order. One of the waiters was even kind enough to close the blinds for me unasked, as the sun shining through from the sunset was very blaring, which was nice of them. The diner was clean and welcoming with nice relaxing music playing on the speakers. It was overall a very “chill” vibe. I ordered a chicken parmigiana sandwich which came out promptly and was hot on the inside, the cheese was melted well so it was a good sandwich, the bread just tasted a little stale. The side of mashed potatoes had good taste to them but definitely could have been a bit warmer.

The atmosphere was great. The service was good. The waffle was great. Crispy on the outside and almost mushy on the inside. I didn’t enjoy the turkey sausage but possibly because I never had it before. The potatoes were good with peppers and onions. The condiments were full and new. Pricing was fair.

This has become one of my favorite places in Union to get a meal while on break from work. Staff is friendly, the food is amazing. And considering I’ve been to quite a few diners in NJ that warms up food from Restaurant Depot and then up-charge for it. This is not one of those diners.
I definitely would recommend the Cajun Grilled Chicken Sandwich and any desserts you can’t go wrong.

If you’re within fifty miles of Springfield, New Jersey and you’re not eating breakfast at Huck Finn Diner, you’ve made a grave miscalculation. The place is a time capsule of chrome and comfort, staffed by professionals who know their way around a griddle and a coffee pot. I walked in groggy and half-human, and walked out reborn with eggs over easy, crispy bacon, and pancakes that could make a grown man weep.
The service was fast and friendly, the kind of place where your coffee never dips below half-full and the waitstaff treats you like a regular even if it’s your first time. Hash browns? Golden. Toast? Buttered to perfection. Even the orange juice tasted like it had a purpose.

On a small trip out of my local area, I stopped in on this classic diner with the traditional stone look expecting a regular experience. As I was WOW’D by the exceptional quality food. The menu says farm fresh eggs and you can tell with one bite. All & all I rate them 9 out 10. Only because one day I might find somewhere to compete with this establishment, and it will be a task.
