This Famous Dave’s location in Appleton now has counter service. So, we were left standing around for far too long waiting for a host to seat us before we figured it out for ourselves. Not sure why it’s counter service, but the staff thought it was not a company wide change. The service was decent after we were seated, as we did not wait too long. The place has the usual Dave’s charm, but it was almost empty at lunchtime. Another difference from other locations was the lack of blues music playing, so the vibe suffered. The cornbread muffin and slaw were pretty great. The fries were okay, but could have been hotter and crispier. The full rack of ribs was very tasty overall, however, one end of the rack was way overdone. I guess it was more of a “Decent Dave’s” on the Saturday we visited.

Great food! I recommend the sweet tea and pick three combo.
You can pick two sides with this these picks. Staff was very friendly and responsive to requests. They helped eachother when needed and were on spot with taking care of their customers the minute they walked in the door. It was nice to see the display of teamwork. We had a great experience and will be back.

We have been ordering 2 platters a week during football season. Same thing every week. And this is what we got this time. And your “manager” tells me that every week, they have given us too many. $45 for 15 wings. They give us another order and the chicken is still close to clucking.. If i could give them a negative rating, I would. You’re better off buying your own and making it yourself. This is $100 worth of food. Never again will we be ordering from here again. You notice how all of the recent reviews are are bad? There is definitely a reason. Even the man in line before us was complaining how it was terrible

I love Famous Dave’s but this was nothing like any Famous Dave’s I have ever been to.
First of all you order yourself at the front and get your own drinks.. which is fine and would have been fine if the food was good. But the food was awful. My 7 year old refused to eat his corn and when I grabbed it I could tell just from looking at it that it was moosh and the one side was even brown from sitting in the pan on that side so long.
The meat was horrible… we got the 3 meat platter with the “fire tips”, pork and 2 spare ribs and as you can see we left 1 whole rib and 3 of the fire tips after each trying one fire tip which resulted in me spitting one out and my husband choking his down. The pork was the only meat worth eating (after removing the fat and piece of bone) but they slathered the ribs and the pork in a horrible sauce that taste like ketchup. It definitely wasn’t one of the Famous Dave’s BBQ sauces!! So after wiping the ketchup like sauce off the pork I would give it a thumbs up.

A Hraban
This became one not so good visit to Dave’s. We were sat next to the kitchen. One of the waitresses ran into my husbands chair several times. Not only that, she ran into other chsirs and kept dropping things. She looked like a tweeker. We were told they ran out of ice! What restaurant runs out of ice, so I had room temp tea. Then the kitchen never got our order, so our meal came to our table about 50 minutes after we ordered. The muffins fell apart they were so crumbly. On the upside my chicken was prepared well. We are not sure we will ever go back.

They changed things up since we were last there. Order and pay at the register first, find a seat, serve yourself soda…they bring the food to you..We had a very nice young man help us out at the register! Food was great! Sorry! Kids dug in before I got a picture of all of the food

I enjoyed the lunch experience the price is very reasonable for what I thought it would be they have a nice array lunch menu and the portions are according the service was okay a little slow to refill drinks but all in all the experience was good the meal was delicious exactly what I expect a barbecue to be

Went in and sat at the bar. My server, think Amber was her name, was great!! Drink prices were insane also. Food was really also, had the catfish and spare ribs. I suggest the Wilber beans or Dirty rice. The macaroni had bits of jalapeño in it, which was different, but cool though.
