What a wonderful place with an ambience inside and out that’s a real eye catcher.. Especially at night. The food was savory…. The duck was outstanding as was the prime ribeye the baked potato…… and the Arnold Palmer was the best I’ve ever had… The lemonade had a sweet tangy taste.

Great spot for brunch. Absolutely loved sitting outside and seeing the peacocks roam the property.
The food was great. I loved the chilaquiles as well as the pimento cheese appetizer.
Their coffee was also fantastic (I regretfully drank it too quickly and wished I had more).

The location and atmosphere are absolutely amazing. It’s a charming old house on land, in immediate south austin. We had an amazing time eating dinner under the oak trees and watching the peacocks climb the trees for the night.
The sour cream and onion chips and the pineapple cake desert were great but the entrees didn’t live up to our expectations for the atmosphere. They were good but not great, which is what we expected.

Loved the costumer service here! The hostess and waitstaff were very helpful and the atmosphere was perfect for our anniversary dinner. I was hoping for a little more flavor from the $77 ribeye steak but it was still great. 🙂

This is a great special occasion restaurant — it is also good for groups. Such a charming spot with great service and great food. The decor inside is so well done and tasteful, with every detail given love and attention. Refined, but still relaxed and not stuffy at all. The biscuits and the fried chicken were so good, but everyone loved their meals.
We were 6 adults and 1 child inside the main dining room downstairs. At night/dusk it’s extra charming with the string lights outside and the peacocks — at a certain point in the evening, they fly up into the trees to next for the night.
One thing: acoustically it can be a little loud inside so if you are a bigger group, you won’t hear much aside from your section of the table (those next to you or right across)

All of our entrees (grilled chicken, salmon, pork tenderloin) were excellent and very large portions. Biscuits were great. Smoked salmon tartare was not good. But still giving it 5 stars. Good ambiance. Would return.

Mattie’s is wonderful date night spot. The ambiance is so great. I loved all the trees and string lights, and appreciated that it is tucked away in a neighborhood. Our food was great but definitely not the best take on upscale southern I’ve ever had. The peaches and burrata appetizer was underwhelming, but the fried green tomatoes and duck were very very good!

Amazing experience at Mattie’s! The atmosphere is charming and uniquely in this house, and the fried chicken was absolutely delicious—crispy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Great service and a beautiful setting made it even better. Definitely a must-visit!

Benedict was fabulous.
Cinnamon rolls were dry and inedible.
The waiter didn’t seem to notice that we didn’t eat them, but rather barely picked at them.
Poached pears were good.
Pork chilequiles were delicious.

The fried green tomatoes had crispy breading and firm texture. The biscuits were crunchy on the ouside and fluffy on the inside. The honey butter with the biscuits was delicious. The breakfast bowl was creamy like rice pudding. A perfect vegetarian dish. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and the wild boar sausage was delicious (very lean and not greasy). Coffee was excellent. Service was very attentive. The noise level was higher than desired (most likely due to the high ceilings), but did not detract from the experience.
