This place is really good. I really loved the salsa with the chips. I got the shrimp quesadilla and a stuffed crab. My boyfriend got the bean and cheese tacos and he said it was good and perfectly cheesy. I would definitely recommend coming here and the sweet tea was perfect.

OH NO! I hate To do this but I have to leave a horrible review. Just wanted to share our bad experience at La Playa…it was so bad we wanted to walk out without paying….no lie dine n dash…but since we’re not low life’s we decided to pay for the less than ordinary food and bad service. The waitress couldn’t even speak English and avoided us most our meal because of the language barrier. I asked for a tea after my beer to have with my meal and it didn’t get to me until I was already done with the plate. The floors n decor were dirty and I dared not use the restrooms. The waitress took forever to bring us the tab and the food was not the good. They didn’t even have asada quesadillas on the menu I had to ask. I know it’s a seafood restaurant but they’re should still be some surf n turf entrees to choose from. Family of 4 two adults two small toddler cost us over $65 to eat there and my wife and I had one beer each. So not only is the service bad, but the food is expensive. Totally not worth coming here and I will never visit again…shame my first one review star…

Seafood and more served hot and fresh. Unlike other restaurants the shrimp cocktail is served with fresh shrimp not frozen. It was great. I also ordered the fried shrimp plate which comes with fries. It seemed like the fries were also battered a little. It was different but in a good way. Sweet tea was also good. Service was great. We will be back.

Good seafood with a definite Mexican (Mariscos) flair. The decor, wall murals and food (along with wait staff talking in Spanish) reminded me of eating in a seaside town in Mexico. They have solid fare. Good food and pretty inexpensive for seafood. Off the beaten path on San Antonio’s west side, but definitely worth a try when you’re missing the seafood dives of Cabo or Cancun!

What a scam! This place sucks! Way over priced! Service is horrible, atmosphere is third world! I ordered the shrimp and oyster soup, I could have done better with a can of Campbell vegetable soup and frozen shrimp and oysters! The six pieces of quarter size shrimp and 6 nickle size oysters with a few very small chunks of celery, two small wedges of tomato, one flat piece of onion in a watered down tomato broth with no taste. This is not exaggerated, I had to crunch up the tortilla chips in it for some flavor and substance. This bowl cost $15.99.The oysters on the half shell are a joke! Why bring so many crackers when it takes three oysters to cover one small square cracker! The pupusa had no flavor and was the size of a flat hockey puck! The best part of the meal was the salsa and chips and the ice tea! $56.20 for this disaster! I will cringe every time I have to pass this place! Aye Caramba!!!
