My husband and I ordered to-go via the website on a Saturday afternoon. He had the Sopo Burger with fries, and I had the Prime Rib French Dip with Woodchips. We also ordered the Rockin’ Buffalo Dip as an appetizer. Everything was phenomenal….fresh, well seasoned, and nicely packaged. The portions were large (leftovers), and the prices were very reasonable. We’re looking forward to sampling other menu items soon.

Athough it was getting very busy at the time of our pickup, service was welcoming and friendly. The restaurant appears very clean and well maintained, inside and out. It looks as though traffic can pick up quickly, so reservations may be warranted if wishing to dine in without a long wait.

This place is the gem of Canton! The staff is so friendly and the atmosphere is elegant yet familiar. Excellent menu with unique twists on southern staples. $5 margs on Tuesday will perpetually lure me from Asheville to Canton.

This is a gem of a restaurant! Beautiful historic building which was elegant but cozy all in one. I can’t say enough about the service!!! I believe our waiters name was Caleb & he must have checked on us within seconds of sitting down. He was extremely friendly and very attentive. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the deviled eggs and the collard dip. Both were great! We also ordered the haunted tips and the meatloaf. Both were amazing! If you come to Canton or even within a 45 minute radius I highly recommend it! The atmosphere, service and food were that good.

10 out of 10 hidden little gem!

We read an article in the Our State magazine that featured the Southern Porch in Canton. We were meeting friends, who live in Lake Junaluska, for lunch. We told them we wanted to try this place. They had never been there before, so we did.
The atmosphere is very charming and everyone was very friendly. The menu features southern classics and they’re done very well. We each tried something different. Every time I see a Reuben on the menu I have to try it, so that’s what I ordered. It was very good and has made it into my top three list. The fries were crispy. We also had shrimp and grits and it was very good. We were impressed that the chef removed the shrimp tails…so it was very easy to eat. One of us ordered the club sandwich and it was impressive and tasty. The onion rings were lightly battered and delicious.
And the fourth guest ordered Not your Mama’s meatloaf and mashed potatoes along with the broccoli casserole. It was better than her Mama’s meatloaf! She loved it. The broccoli casserole was yummy.
We were so excited for this wonderful experience and we definitely can’t wait to return! Please go. You won’t be disappointed.

The restaurant is very homey and comforting. I ordered the ribeye steak with the fries, cornbread, and house salad with a balsamic vinaigrette. The steak was cooked to perfection with a charcoal type of taste. The cornbread was not dry at all so it was very good, and the vinaigrette was really good. Prices were very reasonable. The wait time was a bit long but if you have the time to spare I definitely recommend stopping by.

Excellent local restaurant in quaint downtown Canton with free public parking lot right across the street. Located in an old Victorian style hotel, the restaurant has tons of character and charm. The menu is extensive, with something for everyone. While I typically am not a fan of what I call “New South” restaurants, this one is an exception. Pimento cheese graces many dishes, and there are interesting “updated” forms of classic Southern favorites, but they are not over done. Even more surprisingly, they are not overpriced! A drawback is the wait time. Service was a bit slow, but very friendly & helpful. Full bar with knowledgeable tender. Very nice restrooms. I had the BBQ Grilled Cheese, which was rather rich, but not too spicy. I did have to use a fork and knife to eat it, however. My husband had the Meatloaf, which was very unique and tasty. Fried okra was crispier than most places, which is to my taste. Beautiful patio and porch seating. I definitely plan to be back to try some of the other menu items.

This past Saturday, July 21, 2024, while in the area of Canton, NC, on my way home to Hudson, NC from Kentucky, I searched for food on Google and Southern Porch was at the top of the list. My wife and I decided to give it a try. Let me tell you, aside from my wife, kids and granddaughter, that was the best thing I’ve witnessed this side of heaven. The overall ambiance and the detailed history of the place was especially interesting and a reward within itself. Starting life as a private residence, only to be later sold and converted into a hotel (The Imperial Hotel) for the influx of people as International Paper and Fiber moved into Canton and became one of the first hotels to get electricity.
The service was outstanding, second to none. The food was excellent! I had the Lemon and Pepper Seasoned Salmon, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy as well as the Fried Okra. I also had a taste of my wife’s Broccoli Casserole. Everything was perfectly seasoned and served fresh and hot. our server was relentlessly working to ensure we were having a great dining experience. Let me tell you, it was the best dining experience I’ve had in many years.
Thank you, Southern Porch, for such a great meal, and history lesson. I will be back again and again.

I went here for the first time with my family. The service was excellent and the food was outstanding. We ordered fried pickles and pork rinds for our appetizers. They were great tasting. The pickles were sweet and the pork rinds were tasty. I had the pot roast with fried cabbage. It tasted just like homemade. Highly recommend this establishment.

Beautiful downstairs restaurant inside a 1917 boarding house with minimal decor (wood floor, tin ceilings, brick & wood walls, fireplaces, and some antiques). Our server Emmory was excellent along with the food. We had the Fried Green Tomatoe BLT with broccoli casserole, Bacon BBQ Burger with fries, and the Skinny (small) spinach salad $7 with a Snack size Fender Fried Fish (4 huge pieces lightly battered) $5. Highly recommend if you’re in Downtown Canton.

This place came highly recommended, and it was good! For 3 people, we were there nearly 2.5 hours, so plan your evening. I had the meatloaf, and it was good, fresh, had good flavor, and was different from anywhere else I have ever been. Family members shared the club sandwich, which was huge, and said it was great. There were several other things on the menu that I would like to come back to try. Prices were very reasonable.
