Reviews
The food’s alright, better than practically anything else on the corridor.
But the service SHINES. A ton of attention, everything was fresh, nothing sat in the window. The kitchen is orderly, i got the mac and cheese, and it is fantastic. A creamy béchamel sauce, great flavor and piping hot.
The brisket was nice and lean, with a solid flavor. By no means the worst bbq i have had.
I’ll be back!
I almost didn’t come because of the negative reviews, and I’m glad I ignored them. They even packed my soda for me to take with me. No clue what world y’all are living on giving less than a 4 for this spot.
Service was kind and quick, and the decoration of the place added to the authentic BBQ atmosphere.
Totally recommended if you’re visiting Temple and want to enjoy a real Texas BBQ meal.
Now, to grade the meal.
I had the brisket and smoked turkey, which came with two sides. I wasn’t too sure if I would like the brisket, so Daisy offered to have me try a sample before completing my order.
That was very thoughtful and considerate.
I also asked if I could have my food hot and not lukewarm or cold. A lot of restaurants have dropped the ball serving its customers cold food. In my opinion, this is unacceptable behavior. However, Daisy understood the assignment. Thank you.
When she brought my food, the brisket was tender and flavorful, the turkey was pretty good but a little dry, and my okra and green beans tasted very good. But, the only issue I had was that the bacon in the green beans looked barely cooked. So I skipped the bacon and enjoyed the rest of the meal. I also ordered the Peach cobbler for dessert, and it was so-so. I’m more use to it being far sweeter but I also understand the restaurant doesnt want to contribute to its guest becoming diabetic, soooo it was okay.
Overall, I enjoyed the dining experience, and whenever I visit Temple again, I’ll probably revisit this place.
Great job Clem Mikeska’s!
Wait wasn’t as long as we thought it would be. There were two of us. Greeter seemed very frazzled and commented openly and loudly . Customers don’t want to see or hear that. Business was steady but not overly busy.
Server took our drink order pretty quick but service went down from there. Interactions with server and ongoing requests took excessive time. Repeatedly had to remind server what our request had been. Ordered Appetizers and entrées. What I did not like was that we got the appetizer and entrées at the same time. Customers usually prefer to have an appetizer in anticipation of waiting for their meals to be prepared. That was a little annoying. Temperature wise appetizer was very hot. Our entrées were lukewarm and on the verge of cold. My wife ordered jalapeño cheese sausage and she got regular sausage. I ordered a New York strip steak and it was cold not hot. The food was well seasoned, but temperature wise , not good. We were hungry so of course we ate well actually I ate my wife took her home by the time they corrected it and got it right. I had already finished my meal. Dining area is a little too dark, could be a little lighter so you can see what you’re eating
Looking around and reading about this place is well established restaurant in temple. But our first experience was not a good one.
