For the pass few months I’ve been obsessed with this place. Its been maybe one of the few places I actually enjoy the food. There is flavor. Drinks are super good. Its not basic or boring. Definitely a sit down bar. And yes you should bring a friend here. Its a intimate setting. If you like a place where you can just chat, or sit alone this is the spot.

This was my first time here and I actually just stumbled upon it while walking around downtown Lafayette. I didn’t get to try any of the cocktails because I was still in recovery mode from the night before but I definitely wanted to try something from their menu. I went with the smashburger and fries and I’m telling you this did not disappoint.
The burger was cooked to perfection and I went with all of the toppings except lettuce. I don’t normally get fries but I definitely recommend the fries here as they were a pleasant surprise. This was by far the best smashburger that I’ve had in the Lafayette area thus far.
Finally, and most important, all of the staff members were super friendly and helpful and just made for an overall good experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in Lafayette. Sorry there’s not more photos but I was too hungover to play photographer on this day

Love love love this place! The Thai Pizza is incredible. The coconut curry is fabulous. It is really flavorful without being spicy. I also loved the cocktail menu. I got the Chocolate Milk and cigarettes drink and it was incredible. The star of the show was the lemon cake! It was so good I forgot to snap a photo!

The Atmosphere of The Black Sparrow is relaxed and pleasant. There is a bar area and a dining area. However, you must be 21 to go in. Even if just dinning. This is a great place to meet with friends or a date and eat, have some drinks, and actually talk. Servers are relaxed and very friendly.
Food has been hit or miss. Some food items have been great and others meh. However, I have never had anything that tasted bad. Food that I would recommend: The dates wrapped in bacon were unique, simple ingredients, and flavorful. The Mediterranean Salad was loaded with roasted potatoes, raw and cooked vegetables, and customized with your choice of protein. This was not a skinny girl salad! Very filling and flavorful. Chocolate Cake Served with raspberry sauce! The right combination of moisture and firmness so that the cake holds together with the homemade raspberry sauce. Just an amazing piece of cake! Foods I would skip; The margarita pizza. While it had very fresh ingredients, it was bland and the crust was too dry. The french fries were a big disappointment, they were similar to McDonald’s.

Wonderful place to a late lunch. Fish and chips are incredible. Tasty homemade tartar sauce. The fish is well cooked, crunchy yet tender, and flaky. I’ll be back to try other items! Attentive service.

Great place to eat and drink if you ever find yourself in Lafayette. Kiana, our waitress, was super nice and very helpful with the menu and drinks on tap. Had the shake-up summer shandy, was amazing, and the Steak Chimichurri, definitely worth the price. Always around to refill drinks which was much appreciated.

A local institution without a doubt – the food never misses, EVER. Strongly recommend the Thursday soup selection: Hungarian Mushroom ( a Chamber member favorite!).
If you get the bacon wrapped dates, be sure to ask for a side of the sambal sauce for dipping if a bit of heat and acidity is your thing.
Mediterranean salad with chicken + chickpeas is a must-order.

Great food, great rotating specials, great prices, and an excellent selection of drinks, both alcoholic and NA. Great place for a date night or a fun time out. No TV’s at all in the restaurant, which is something we need to see more. No ‘turn and burn’ sensation at all; this is a true gem.
