I love love love going to Ernie’s Market !!! The food is fantastic and so are all of the staff!!! I was so happy to see Ernie today! I was even able to get a hug from Ernie which absolutely made my day. Everyone there is so professional, sweethearts and personal. You feel like part of the family each and every time you go there. I highly recommend the Monster Jr. It is fantastic!

Unbelievable. How many things in life live up to their legends? Not many. Ernie’s Market does. I am 51 years old, a lifelong Oak Parker, and somehow had never been here before (cannot explain why). Well worth the wait! This place is almost too magical to capture in words. If I had to pick one word though, that one word would be LOVE. You could feel it in the air, it was almost tangible. I didn’t know anyone else there, customers, employees etc .. yet everyone felt familiar, like family. Everyone was very happy to welcome me into the family. For context, instant bringing is normally not an easy thing for me to feel. I was fortunate that Ernie himself was there! “Who loves ya” ringing out periodically. I believe the lovely lady who so kindly prepared my sandwich is Earnie’s daughter! Ernie was kind enough to take a picture with me. I told him we all love him and he humbly says, “I hope so.” I assured him it was true. I also told him we appreciate him very much and he said he appreciates us! The sandwich was delicious but my soul was just as full as my stomach. It is almost cliché to say that Ernie and Ernie’s Market are Gems, Local Treasures, but both are 100% true.

I heard about this place in an article about the top 10 sandwich places in Michigan. I drove 40 minutes and stood in line for another 30. It was well worth the wait and will be back again. Wish they stayed open later for dinner. They are definitely in the top 10 and I would say they are number 1 out of the top 10.

I was in the area and I finally tried Ernie’s market. Hands down, it’s one of the best sandwich shop in metro Detroit. Not only that, the price point mad it an exceptional value for what your getting. Ernie and his staff were finally and fast in getting your order to you. I had their little monster sandwich and I struggled to finish it. I can only imagine how big the regular sandwiches are.

EVERYONE IS SO NICE!! I came for lunch on a tuesday at noon and there were only two people ahead of me so I did not have a long wait at all. The staff was so nice and welcoming and very helpful with recommendations. The sandwiches were AMAZING you have to get the onion roll and load it up with veggies, mustard, mayo, and love spice. I definitely will be back very soon

I have been hearing about this place for over 10 years, finally went in about three weeks ago and I’m so happy I did. It’s an experience for sure. Their top notch customer service from the time you walk in until the time you leave is so awesome, that alone would bring me back. The best part of my visit was…I got to meet Ernie! He was such a nice guy. Oh, and my food was great too!

The Best Sandwich You’ll Ever Have—Period.

Ernie’s Market is a Metro Detroit must. Don’t let the humble, no-frills setting fool you—this unassuming deli tucked into a corner market is home to absolute sandwich magic.

You’ll wait in line in an aisle next to old cans and pop bottles, soaking in the “charm.” When it’s your turn, you’ll be greeted by some of the kindest, most genuine people you’ll ever meet. Then they’ll make you a sandwich that looks simple—until you take a bite.

It’s filling, flavorful, and somehow exactly what you didn’t know you were craving. The ingredients, the care, the balance… it’s not just lunch. It’s an experience.

Ernie is a legend. This place is a gem. If you’re anywhere near Metro Detroit, make the trip. You won’t regret it.and if you live in the area and have not supported this living legend, now is your time.

This was my first time at Ernie’s Market and honestly, I left a little disappointed after all the amazing reviews I’ve seen. The people are super friendly, which I really appreciated, but the food just didn’t hit for me.

I ordered two regular sandwiches on onion rolls and there was barely any meat on them—pretty much all I could taste was bread. The corned beef didn’t have much seasoning either, which made it even more underwhelming. I definitely would’ve paid extra for more meat if I’d known it came so light.

Maybe I just picked the wrong sandwich and should give something else a try, but as a first impression it wasn’t the best. Not sure if I’ll be back.
