For our appetizer we got the Calamari. It was very light and flavorful. Its was lightly fried in Rice Flour so it was actually Gluten Free. I have not been able to find Calamari Ina Gluten Free version anywhere so it was nice.
I got the Strip Steak with Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes and house made Tater Tots. The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. As for the tots and the potatoes not too much flavor there but there was some kind of jelly next to the steak and that made the flavor much better. My boyfriend got the Seafood Tasting and was super upset because they ran out of the Chilean Sea Bass and he was really looking forward to it. They did allow substitutes for that and the crab cake since it was not gluten free.
All in all I think the restaurant was pretty satisfactory. I would rate a 7/10. It didnt wow me but it was nice to have Gluten Free Calamari and they did have a nice wine list and at the end they gave us a chocolate that was peanut butter and dark chocolate. It was yummy.
My only complaint would be that when the waiter took my card for payment he came back and said that it declined. This was shocking as I knew that couldn’t be right, and embarrassing. I used another card and paid, assuming there must have been an issue reading the chip, and I would check it later. Walking home, I pulled out my phone and had a notification from my bank. It stated that my card was declined due to the wrong cvv being entered.
I understand mistakes happen but this really put a damper on the experience and was pretty embarrassing. I would just advise that they be more careful and detail oriented when running people’s payment.
Overall, good food. Just a bit lacking in service for my experience.
Plenty of staff and very attentive to our needs. Food all looked wonderful. Started with some nice oysters on the half shell, cold and tasty – I found the hot sauce very hot, be careful ! My short rib was fantastic and the sides complemented the main. I’m not crazy about squash but the purée was spectacular !
Nice dessert menu but most of us went for the Eleven Grand Bar , the obvious choice for those who like chocolate.
Highly recommended.
My husband and I dined here yesterday for their Valentine’s menu. We left hungry. The portions of each course were VERY small. For the entree selection, I ordered the sea bass and my husband ordered the NY strip steak (both pictured). What came was literally three slices of steak and my portion of sea bass was a square approximately 2in. x 2in. We wanted to taste each other’s meal, but quite frankly, there was only THREE bites for each of us. Now, this isn’t the first fine dining experience for us. We have dined at Altius, Meat & Potatoes, and Monterey Bay Fish Grotto among others. This was the first time we each ordered our own dessert instead of sharing one (perhaps that was the point – get people to spend even MORE money) and we STILL left hungry. If you eat here – tip: grab a bite somewhere else beforehand or pack a sandwich for when you leave.
The food was excellent! I had the seafood sampler and my husband had the swordfish.
The desserts… The presentation was impressive to say the least. But tasted even better. The attention to detail, compliments to the pastry chef! The atmosphere was lovely. Would definitely return and recommend.
