Aki Sushi & Steakhouse
Sarah was our server and she was absolutely excellent! From the moment we sat down, she was attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience even better. She kept our drinks filled without us ever having to ask, checked on us just the right amount, and had great recommendations.
A huge thank you also to the manager, Tony, for staying on top of everything and making sure the restaurant ran smoothly. Tony even took the time to take some wonderful family pictures for us, which meant a lot!
The food was fresh and delicious (as always at Aki), but the outstanding service from both Sarah and Tony truly made our night special. We’ll definitely be back and will request Sarah’s section again. Thank you both!
-Took 15 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation that we arrived 5 minutes early for. They were not busy at all. I also observed another party waiting 20 minutes to be seated when there were MANY open tables.
-Although staff were all very kind, they failed to check on our table and forgot to bring 2 appetizers and one main course. Had to wait nearly 15 minutes for them walk by, flag them down and inform them of the error.
-Most importantly, this place is DIRTY! The bathroom trash was overflowing and the corner stall had some gross white funky stuff coming out of the tile on the floor. It took up about 7 by 7 inches that was very noticeable by the heaping trash. The bathroom mirror was so foggy and gross, it had white drip lines seeping from the top (not sure what it was though). One of the toilets was leaking water from the bottom and the floor was soaked, and the walls of the restaurant were filthy and brown.
There was also a huge piece of drywall laying next to a dirty table the whole time we were there.
– – The staff decided to clean the kitchen floor and soapy water literally was leaking all over the restaurant floor. My brother almost slipped and fell coming from the bathroom. I had to tip toe to get to the nasty bathroom because there was water everywhere. You could see water tracks from the staff for about 20 feet past the kitchen.
– – – Our little grill literally caught on fire while cooking meat. We added nothing but the meat provided, and it caught on freaking fire because it was probably filthy inside!
– All the food was way too sweet! I firmly believe they put sugar in everything, even the seaweed salad was sweet.
– Of the 2 of our parties 6 chairs, the seat was almost completely detached from the chair legs.
All in all, it was a Sunday night and the whole place was being run by very young people who could care less about any of this. I’m not sure when the owner or Manager makes an appearance (by the looks of this place, NEVER) but they should be ashamed.
It’s filthy and for the experience we had, WAY overpriced. Had the location been clean and the food all not be as sweet as a desert, maybe I wouldn’t feel robbed paying almost 80$ for 2 people.
First, let’s just say they mislead you by their menu.
Second, they do not serve what they advertised. The sirloin steak is not at all sirloin steak it’s the cheapest steak they can buy closer to what it looks like sirloin, it’s more like round steak. The pork belly is just two pieces of thin bacon rolled together.
Third, they automatically add 20% gratuity meanwhile it takes 5-10min to get the server back to your table it’s ridiculous. Save your $200 + and go to a restaurant that will actually provide good food and server.
We Walked in 7pm on Thursday evening, about ten patrons in bar area with relaxed vibes, and my party of two adults and 1 young child, (and the child which was just going to be there and not eating at all), were quickly greeted and taken to the sushi bar at which time we told them we’d rather sit in the BBQ side, tho we weren’t even asked and was automatically taken for seating in the sushi side, hostess had to ask manager something, and we were then asked if we had a Groupon, and we didn’t so we told her that we didn’t. The hostess then had to ask if the manager knew if we could be seated the hibachi side, which also amazes me that it had only about 8 people in this hibachi area, and sushi side less than that…. The 8 in hibachi at 2 tables , seemed to have been finished eating or just not eating or was on the phones, etc etc. We then were told it was going to be a few minutes before we could seat and it would take a few minutes to set it up whilst it’s just a self serve hibachi, the whole time we’re back at the entrance and seated in chairs waiting for her return. She then chats with some young boy that had to come here to record her for 5 minutes whilst we wait for her to tell us anything and she then spoken with him for a few minutes more, which he then left and came back in to apparently order or pay for something or something at which point I decided I was done, waiting and wanting to eat here both.. wife decided that we could wait for a few minutes more that she had not said anything yet again and I decided to be more than patient again and give her time as it seemed the 5 or 6 other FOH employees were all busy elsewhere or doing something besides the young lady. 4 or 5 more minutes passed at which point I’m tired of waiting for 15 + minutes to be told that it would be twenty to thirty minutes before it would be able to be seated by the table or at one at all. Sucks because we’ve been trying to find a decent kbbq place and thought this might be it. Seems like they need to figure OUT WHAT OR IF there’s place or not places for everyone to be seated OR rather faster ,or better, than the way it seemed to have been for us. or better yet. Don’t even offer the hibachi side after certain times figure out the employee part before opening the doors for the day or shift. Plenty of food and employees it seemed by looking at sushi bar and manager sitting on his butt behind the sushi bar on his phone. Wouldn’t even stand up or even look up to acknowledge the young lady or any guests apparently… Maybe his Phones not working? or IDK maybe the phones are more important than the guests trying to put money in the account for them to pay the salary or etc of said employees or what ever it is they spend it on. Horrible experience to say the least. 1hr + driving and returning to the 408 and alafaya tr area to find another place where we had much better services , food, and atmosphere. At least for my birthday I did get to eat some Korean BBQ and was treated nicely and quickly. I’ll say the Place looked nice tho. I think. As the longer I waited the more it seemed that I didn’t care to much, to pay more attention to the whole placement of any one item. Do not go here.
Overall ambiance of the restaurant is very nice. It is clean and the staff are very kind and attentive.
The food is very well cooked and the chefs are talkative and will happily adjust taste to your liking.
Everything we ate was delicious and since they add noodles to your Habachi meal it is more than enough food and too much for a kid to finish. We did take the rest home.
Now the Groupon was NO real savings, because along with the cost of the Groupon the overall price of Habachi was $105.
Also please note, gratuity is always added to your bill 18% no matter what.
So if your looking for a very filling Hibachi place def give this a try, but note it is a bit pricy.
20%grat included.
Salad Bar is very limited.
The Sauces not labeled.
Gets smokey when cooking.
One waitress running around so wait for everything.
Food is ok.
We got a Groupon for an eat all you want Korean Barbecue, In general if you are starving and you eat a lots you could get a good price/food ratio.
Do not go for quality.
The ragoon was delicious, the only thing.
They force you to pay the gratuity, I only paid because the waitress was an angel, the owner or manager sucks a lot.
