Tsunami Sushi is a good option for downtown dining for anyone looking for more than just seafood. The menu is broad enough to please all diners. It’s a fun option for groups and for travelers seeking to discover diverse food flavors New Orleans has to offer. The Asian grill menu is just as popular as the sushi bar menu. Floor to ceiling windows invite iconic views of the busy intersection of St Charles & Poydras Street into your memorable meal at the popular downtown sushi bar.

I really enjoyed my meal here. The shrimp fried rice was very fresh and absolutely delicious. The miso soup was okay, simple, and the only soup option on the menu. One highlight was the Ragin’ Cajun sushi, which was made with alligator a unique and fun experience that I’m glad I tried. Overall, a great place if you enjoy fresh food and trying something different.

Modernly styled sushi place in the CBD, catering mostly to the business lunch/dinner and tourists, but perfectly good for locals as another sushi place to add to their roster. Cocktails are creative as are their selection of sushi rolls.

Wow! Tuesday happy hour is an absolutely incredible deal. We had a cocktail and two sushi rolls for $21. But no matter what you pay the food is worth the money. The Rajin’ Cajin’ alligator roll is fantastic.

We needed a break from French Quarter food on our vacation and walked to Tsunami Sushi. Happy Hour 3-6pm, Monday after Mother’s Day. Plenty tables open and my friend and I sat at the bar. Food was exactly what we needed and at Happy Hour price, it was even better. Fish was fresh and the truffle salmon was something I’ve never heard of, but would order again! They also seared our nigiri upon request, med rare. I wish there was $1.50 nigiri where I lived! Ruby was an excellent bartender/server and really made our experience too-notch and elevated. Can’t wait to come back!

When we arrived in anticipation for a wonderful dinner, the hostess asked if we had a reservation. We didn’t, so she asked us to wait while she checked on the tables. She came back and said she had a table for us. We looked around and saw that the place was mostly empty, yet we were subjected to a “show” of how busy they were. When the waitress brought our drinks and saw that we needed more time, she said she’d give us a few minutes. After a few minutes passed by, she continued to walk past our table several times without even looking at us. I had to call her to remind her that we were still waiting. Two people in our group ordered the mixed green salad. Both had the same experience – the cherry tomatoes tasted rotten! One actually spat it out! When the entrees arrived, the rice that came with the Orange Glazed Salmon was hard and crunchy in some places while mushy in others. How can you mess up rice? And how can an ASIAN establishment make terrible rice?? When the waitress came by to ask how everything was, I said, “Um, it’s…ok” with a wince. She didn’t even notice or care and just walked away. When we were done, we looked around the room and it was still mostly empty. I don’t understand how it has the kind of reviews that they have. It is subpar in both service and food quality. I say avoid this place at all costs.

Walked here from our hotel for dinner and the food was delicious. We ordered a couple of rolls, one was on the specials menu, the Black and Gold roll and I can’t remember the name of the rest but they were all very tasty. A nice upscale sushi restaurant with friendly staff. My only complaint is that we saw a large roach or possibly a cricket crawling on the floor as we were paying the bill. Luckily, we were done eating. To their defense, there is a lot of shrubbery and bushes nearby the door so I don’t think it’s a cleanliness issue. However it was unsettling. Still recommend giving it a try.
