We had a wonderful dining experience at Comptoir Réalis. The mayonnaise egg on toast, house pâté, escargots, French onion soup, and steak were all excellent — classic dishes prepared with great care and authentic flavors.

Every course was well executed, generous, and satisfying, showing true respect for French bistro traditions. What truly elevated the experience was the outstanding service: every waiter was attentive, friendly, and genuinely professional, making us feel welcome throughout the meal.

A fantastic address in Paris for honest, high-quality French cuisine with superb service.
Highly recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Nice spot in a bustling area. Restaurant was not fancy but had a casual bistro feel. The gentleman who waited on us was courteous and helped us with our escargots (memorable because the snail went flying!). We ordered the dozen snails (fun and tasty for our first time), terrine plat du jour (lovely flavours see description in photo) and beef cheek stew (tender meat, vegetables were cooked just right). We also had unlimited bread (realized this is the norm here in Paris). We had a couple glasses of wine. Nice place. We came early so it was quiet but I think it would have been busy later on in the evening and would have good vibes.

The food was good, and the service was friendly and efficient. The escargots were nicely done, and everything was well presented. That said, I didn’t really get that wow factor I was hoping for the dishes were solid, but nothing stood out as exceptional. I left feeling a bit underwhelmed, to be honest.

Would I come back? Probably not, I’d rather explore other spots in the area next time.
Would I recommend it? Yes, especially if you’re after a casual French bistro vibe in Saint-Germain.

Good atmosphere. Good was terrible. This is the most dry croque Madame I’ve ever had. There was no bechamel, nothing. If this is the location Anthony bourdain raved about, this must have lost its sparkle. Waste of money for a dry ham and cheese. The free bread they serve vs the sliced bread shown would have helped.

The food was fresh and of standard quality, which matched the price. I gave 5 stars because the waitress and waiters were very kind—they didn’t kick us out when they closed and let us stay until we finished our wine.

The combination of time and a change of ownership has not been kind to this formerly wonderful bistro. While we were happy to find it on a Sunday night after wandering the 6th looking desperately for somewhere open to eat, there was much lacking in the meal, despite the efforts of a kind staff. Plates were sloppily prepared, sides were the same across several meals, and the food lacked the energy that it used to have. But the rose was decent and we had a good time. Eat there only if necessary.

A delightful authentic French dining experience at the bistro!  The escargots and the beef tartare were well prepared that changed my mind about them. And the smooth red wine was a perfect pairing. It’s a good choice at the hustling street-side atmosphere.

Was here 10 years ago and really enjoyed the Pork Belly, beef steak and the food quality was really good THEN. Came back this time with my friends to revisit those good dishes but they were taken off the menu.

We had the pork knuckle with mash potatoes which was pretty yummy and crispy. The pork cheek with lentils in a pot was quite average. Too much lentils but the soup was quite tasty. Lobster penne pasta was tastiest of the 3 mains we ordered and probably the only one I would reorder again.

In terms of service experience, The female restaurant manager was still as angry and unfriendly as before. (Would have thought after 10 years service quality would improve). There were empty tables all around when we arrived for dinner but she told us we had to wait an hour. Given they don’t take reservations and we were the first in line, we didn’t understand why we couldn’t have those tables. Anyhow, we told her we will wait. Then she showed us to the bistro 2 doors down to wait. After about 30 mins, she came to get us and showed us to our outside tables. The male waiter who served us was also pretty rude and sarcastic towards us when we tried to ask him for recommendations etc. Somehow there seem to be preferential treatment from the manager and wait staff towards other local patrons than tourists.

Overall a lousy and disappointing experience. Won’t bother revisiting again. (And I’m really sorry to say this).

Amazing wine bar and delicious small plates. The only issue with dining here is that everything else you eat and drink in Paris will be just ok. Scratch kitchen, knowledgeable and friendly staff, small and intimate. There are 3 sections of this restaurant; sit down dining to include outdoor seating, French delicacies, and fish and seafood counter. You will likely be standing up while there due to them taking up the seats as the evening progresses. My favorite place in all of Paris!

came here after not eating all day. Was half dead of exhaustion and starvation, so I ordered the mac & cheese and vanilla rice pudding. The second the mac & cheese hit my taste buds exploded into a world of cheesiness and exquisite delight. I’m not kidding when I say this is the best mac & cheese I’ve ever had. And the rice pudding was good too.!
