For us, the service was awesome at the time and quick. We would be full in less than an hour!
PRO:
Service was EXCELLENT. Waiting staff members were all attentive and friendly.
Atmosphere was quite nice. Tables are setting quite far apart so you don’t feel like being so close to the next to table.
Decoration was not fancy, but quite warm.
The appetizers were good. I had the soft-shell crab, kaki fry (deep fried oysters), baked mussels, and Hamachi Kama. I loved all these items.
CON:
Sushi and sashimi are so so.
Sushi roll was just OK. I had the Lion King Roll. Nothing special. Rice was a bit dried.
Sashimi, on the other hand, did not taste that fresh and slice or fish were cut quite thin. I have attached some pictures and you can be a judge for yourself.

FYI. Sorry I was true and I had to disclose it. I had a bad case of diarrhea after I got home. Lucky it was NOT food poisoning.
I felt better after taking some anti-diarrhea medication (Loperamide Hydrochloride tablet = Imodium A-D) for diarrhea.
I would give it 3.5 if it was NOT for the diarrhea. But … I would NOT come back to place where I got sick. I don’t know if anyone else got sick on that same sitting. It was doing lunch hours today (09/05/25).
Fair warning.
The service at the time that I was there was very good and attentive. The restaurant is kind of big but they have only few table that surprises me , because was lunch time (12:30)
I order diferentes rolls, sushi and some classic Japanese food. (Sorry no picture for the food)
The ambience was nice, a lot tvs around, and very conservative decor.
If you are in the mode for Japanese food and don’t like to expended too much money this is the place.
Soft Shell Crab: Crispy, flavorful, absolutely nailed it. 5/5, no doubt.
Kaki Fry (Fried Oysters): Ugh. Nope. Just… nope. 1/5, hard pass.
Gyoza: They were fine. 3/5.
Takoyaki (Octopus Balls): Major letdown. It was basically just dough, small octopus bits?! 1/5.
Okay, the sashimi salad was a bit stingy on the actual sashimi (only three pieces!), but the other salads? Total rockstars:
Wakame Salad (Seaweed Salad): Seriously, this was amazing. Fresh, no weird oily residue. 5/5!
Idako Salad (Baby Octopus Salad): So good! Great texture, super tasty. Another 5/5!
Ika Sansai Salad (Mountain Veggie & Squid Salad): Yep, you guessed it. Fantastic. 5/5!
Nigiri:
We got into the nigiri, salmon, red snapper, tuna, white tuna, yellowtail, butterfish, and eel. Generally good, fresh fish. But the butterfish was the MVP, hands down. Salmon was a close second. The rest were… just there.
Oh, and the Salmon Carpaccio? Super delicious, but they only give you one per table, which is a bit of a tease. 5/5 for taste.
Now, for the big issue: the fish-to-rice ratio. The first round of nigiri was perfect, lots of fish, just a little rice (like 80/20). But then, with every new order, it was like they were slowly swapping out the fish for more rice. It went from 60/40, then to basically 50/50, and the rice got super packed and dense. It really took away from the whole nigiri ordering and made me stop because that gave me the irk.
Okawa Sushi’s AYCE lunch is a bit of a rollercoaster. You get some seriously good stuff (hello, soft shell crab and those salads!), and some decent nigiri, especially the butterfish. But that sneaky rice situation on the later nigiri orders is a real buzzkill.
Would I go back? Nah, the rice ratio throughout the orders gave me the irk, wouldn’t spring for the premium ever again.
The only miss was the karaage … It’s not the thinly breaded baseballs of chicken thigh…it’s closer to katsu nuggets.
This definitely fills the void old Kenzo left especially with them being shut down immediately. Kenzo was falling off anyway. Okawa meets those old 10 year old memories I had at Kenzo: decent sushi, kpop music, and no frills eating experience. I just wish there was a sushi bar to sit at.
Bring hungry friends.
Thanks Bridget for noticing my dropped chopsticks.
my family/ group wants sashimi 9 pcs we cant have it. So, everybody takes 1 table to get 9pcs? Doesn’t make sense. We paid what they ask. Should be 1 plate (9pcs) per person. This the one dragging the stars. Second the server don’t come back to ask if you doing fine or take more orders. Third the server pick up the bowl her/his thumb touching the miso soup need to train educate the servers and they are not friendly at all no smile or etc. Food is OK I will give 3.5 – 4 stars. Fried oyster, yellow tail collar ,salmon collar (run out) want to try and butter fish nigiri is good, this what I like the most and fried oyster. (salmon, red tuna) thin slice and pail color. This place needs to improve, if not, business will go down. Sad to say . I will try 1 more time.
