Reviews
The steak was perfectly cooked and the Mac & cheese was the best I’ve had in a while.
We started with cocktails and ordered Tom Collins. It wasn’t exactly what we wanted. It felt like we had a regular Gin Tonic.
The waiter told us that the appetizer portions were small and the main course portions were large, as if we had never been to the restaurant. Even though we hadn’t asked. My friend was my guest and I didn’t mind the waiter’s approach.
The food was delicious and timed perfectly. We ordered shrimp for starters and Tomahawk for main courses. It was a very filling meal for two people. After finishing our meals, we ordered dessert. We ordered sticky tofu pudding. We loved it. However, before we could finish our desserts, the waiter brought the bill. There were plenty of empty tables in the restaurant, and he didn’t need ours. This was quite disturbing. We wanted to have cocktails after dessert. However, the waiter’s attitude was quite disturbing. We paid the bill and left. We were uncomfortable with this situation and didn’t want to stay any longer. I didn’t ask for the bill, and the restaurant was empty. I think this approach is the same as firing a restaurant.
The reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the welcome we received at the door and the delicious food. The service and cocktails were not what we expected.
Especially our server, Yumi, who was incredibly attentive and did an amazing job.
She made our 10th anniversary date feel even more special.
The overall experience feels premium without being pretentious. If you’re looking for a memorable steakhouse with outstanding food, great drinks, and excellent service, BOAS is absolutely worth the visit.
Having previously enjoyed BOA Steakhouse in Austin, our decision to celebrate a birthday at the Santa Monica location was met with high expectations – and BOA delivered! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the polite, sociable, and thoroughly enjoyable service. It’s clear that BOA prioritizes a welcoming and attentive dining experience.
Our evening began with cocktails, and as martini aficionados who prefer them “dirty,” we’re often met with hesitation from bartenders. Not so at BOA Santa Monica! Our Bombay Sapphire martinis were perfectly crafted, beautifully presented, and made exactly to our specifications. This attention to detail set the tone for the rest of the meal.
For appetizers, we indulged in oysters on the half shell and enormous prawn cocktails. The oysters, while their specific coast slipped my mind, were notably not briny and exceptionally good. The prawns were a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to quality ingredients and generous portions.
The main courses continued to impress. I savored a dry-aged bone-in ribeye cooked to perfection, accompanied by a loaded baked potato. My wife’s Skuna Bay salmon was a highlight, perfectly cooked – a rare feat as many restaurants tend to overcook salmon. Our daughter’s petit filet was equally tender and juicy. To complement our individual selections, we shared roasted Alaskan king crab, smashed broccoli, and original mashed potatoes, all of which were delectable and well-presented.
Overall, our birthday celebration at BOA Steakhouse Santa Monica was a resounding success. The consistency in food quality across all dishes was remarkable, and the service was truly perfect. We’re already looking forward to making reservations at the upcoming BOA in Las Vegas!
