Came for Valentines day, absolutely incredible food – not a single dish from the 3 course menu was a miss! (me and my partner had 3 different dishes so all 6 were incredible). The atmosphere was cosy but not dark and gloomy, and the service was top notch. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for high quality food in London at a generally reasonable price! (p.s. the creme brulee was to die for).

Stepping into La Petite Auberge on Upper Street in Islington felt like a lovely escape to a classic, unpretentious slice of France. Given some of the reviews I’d read online, what I experienced bore no resemblance to those complaints – I genuinely didn’t recognise the same restaurant!
My meal began with the stuffed mushrooms, and they were exactly what you hope for from a traditional French starter: rich, earthy, and perfectly seasoned. It set a wonderful tone for the main event: moules provençale. The mussels were fresh, plump, and swimming in a wonderfully aromatic broth of tomato, garlic, and herbs. I greedily sopped up every last drop with the crusty bread.
The drinks list deserves a mention, too. The wine list is extensive, offering a fantastic range for every budget and taste. Not wanting to overthink it, I opted for the house white, and it was truly excellent—crisp, refreshing, and an ideal partner for the seafood.
The ambiance is cozy and intimate, and the service was attentive yet relaxed. This is a place that clearly takes pride in classic French cuisine and providing a genuinely warm dining experience. Forget the harsh online critics; if you’re looking for honest, delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere in Islington, La Petite Auberge is a true gem

Excellent restaurant, we went here at La Petite Auberge with my dear husband for Valentine’s Day and we just genuinely enjoyed ourselves and each other with delicious drinks, excellent food and those pancakes for dessert were amazing and I warmly recommend this place.

We went here as a party of 10 and received excellent service and food. I hadn’t been here for many years and was very impressed with the food- soo tasty, generous portions, well presented and very good value for money. Definitely a place I will be returning to and highly recommending. Food was all excellent – Steak was outstanding!!

What a brilliant find!! The star dish was definitely my duck main, where there was a sweet potatoe pure! However, everything we ate was just incredible. We had the artichoke heart starter and chicken soup starter. You can tell they used all fresh ingredients and did EVERYTHING from scratch. Finishing off with incredible crème brûlée and apple and very crumble. Not one dud dish, I am very impressed. The service was perfect too with the waiters checking on you the right amount and the wait of food was perfect between each course. Highly recommend!!!

We went all in ! 3 courses menu on a weekend, the atmosphere was really nice and food was delicious: two musts 1) mussels, 2) escargots. Highly recommend. You should be a bit patient tho !

Delicious duck confit I’ve had in London! Sumptuously cooked in the emulsified fat as it should based on spinach which was cooked to perfection too. The sauce wasnt to my liking but everything else was masel tov!
The service was also good with recommendations/suggestions on time and consideration to requirements. The woman preparing galletes and crepes did it with great finesse and kindness, very present staff and can see why people go there time and again!

Such a nice surprise I had for my birthday here! The personnel is so warm and welcoming, feels like home. French style. The food was delicious, we had mussels, confit de canard and chicken breast with spinach. Delicious!

A great little gem both for family & friends gatherings. I went with friends & families a few times for lunch. The menu was always pretty standard but quality is definitely above par, especially for lunch sets. Service in general is good. The only time when we didn’t feel comfortable was when we were served by a young waitress who seemed quite impatient. Deco is relaxing, very French country style. All in all, the set lunch is good value for money.
