First time I ate here was 1976 and the food is just as good now as then. You see bad reviews on here it’s false. The food and service has always been good. Most low reviews are from people who don’t know that southern BBQ is a whole different flavor than the sweet baby rays fake stuff they are used to. Thanks Wallace’s for still having amazing food and service

Wallace BBQ has been as I was told a mainstay in austell, Georgia. It’s been around a long time. Well respected. Swallow, a friend of mine and I were on some business today. We decided we would try it out. So it’s a a old-time Georgia barbecue restaurant. What you see is what you get. I had the fried chicken with two sides coleslaw and baked beans. The chicken was nothing to write home about. It’s just some thickly breaded chicken breast from Cisco. Coleslaw was very good. The big beans for out of a can. On the other hand, my friend had the pulled pork platter. He raved about the pulled pork and he thought the Brunswick stew was some of the best he has ever had. So I guess if you eating a little barbecue place you should get barbecue instead of fried Chicken platter lol. But on my kidney diet I couldn’t eat anything red meat. So come for the barbecue come for the pleasure of sitting in a place that’s been here for over 50 years and well-respected.

Great restraunt! Came here as a memory since my father went back when he was a kid in the 70s and 80s. The last time he went and sat down was in 2001!!! Awesome service and food came out surprisingly quickly. The burger tastes great and has that authentic smokey taste. The fries were decent, nothing to rave about but certainly not bad. I would try again as it has that authentic southern taste and feel!

The place and people are great but.. the food is heavy in vinegar and lacks other seasonings. The coleslaw was not the creamy kind but more sweet and vinegar kind (just a fair warning for those that don’t like the vinegar based one). The Brunswick stew was a good mixture for a stew. The chili that was on the chili dog was just ground meat. The burgers, fries, hot wings (weren’t hot), and fried chicken were good. I am sure for those that love vinegar based bbq this place is amazing but of the other people it’s a bit much. Our waitress was super nice got sat quickly during a dinner high traffic time. Food was pretty quick to come out as well.

Food had a very wholesome taste. Nothing too exciting. Vinegar-based barbecue sauce. The onion rings were my favorite. The staff was very friendly, that was the most exceptional thing. Lightning fast food service. Very cool decor and building layout.

After hearing how great this place is, we had to come check it out. I ordered the pork sandwich with fries and Cole slaw. The smoke flavor in the pork was really tasty, bbq sauce was good. Their spicy mustard was really good too. The restaurant itself was really cozy and cute inside. Service was excellent!

Wallace is the classic BBQ joint with what you expect on a southern BBQ menu, but here is where they separate themselves from the others. They have long time waitresses, who are helpful, welcoming and love the job. Wallace has customers come back week after week to see the employees because they feel like they are coming to see family. Then there is the food, in a word excellent. I always have said if you are a real southern BBQ restaurant you have to have hand-cut fries and they do. They are golden brown on the outside and tender on the inside. The pork and vinegar based sauce compliment each other well. Slaw is sweet and creamy and why not add some Brunswick stew that doesn’t try and impress with unusual additions, but wows you with flavor warming your soul. It is a must stop for anybody looking for traditional BBQ fare.

First the good. The employees were all super friendly, I like the feel of the place. It was super busy during weekday lunch so I figured that was a good sign.
Sadly the food did not impress. The BBQ pork fries with cheese did not include much cheese and no sauce. They did give me some ranch with it, but I would’ve rather had BBQ sauce. The pulled pork sandwich had some sauce but not much, meat was tender, had some good flavor. The ribs I think were overcooked, the bark on the outside was just too tough, and again not enough sauce on them. The onion rings… I don’t know if you could call it onion rings, they’re fried in a way that the breading just kinda falls off, they don’t hold shape… they were just piled into the container. As I mentioned, there was never enough sauce and in fact I didn’t even get any sauce cups on the side, which I would expect from most BBQ places. The stew was just okay, but I’m probably spoiled by Carey Hilliard’s down in Savannah. Also, they don’t have mac n cheese, no green beans, no collards… or at least they’re not on the menu. Overall.. I like Dickey’s better.

Fun atmosphere but suuuuper slow and couldn’t really figure out why… like, bbq should already be ready to go, maybe a few mins to fry something, but it really shouldn’t have taken as long as it did. “Chopped steak” is a hamburger patty, that was surprising. Why not just call it what jt is? The lemon pepper chicken wings and fries were actually quite good, and the fried green beans were AMAZING. We will be back for those two things, but everything else was pretty mediocre. I wouldn’t really call this a “bbq” restaurant.
