Disappointing Experience – Needs Serious Improvement
Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing Waffle House locations I’ve visited. The quality of service and food fell far below the standard I’ve come to expect from the brand.
To start, the food was poorly prepared — about half of my meal came out burnt. It was clear the cook was visibly aggravated, and that frustration showed in the quality of the food. The atmosphere in the kitchen felt tense, which definitely carried over into the dining experience.
The waiter was polite and friendly, but unfortunately, his attention was scattered. He seemed more focused on everything going on around him than on his customers, struggling to handle even one task at a time. This led to mistakes and long waits that made the visit frustrating.
The manager also appeared to have priorities elsewhere. Instead of maintaining focus on guests and ensuring the dining area ran smoothly, the manager repeatedly pulled staff away, leaving customers unattended. The restaurant itself wasn’t well-kept — tables needed wiping, and the overall cleanliness was below expectations, especially considering how many staff members were on duty.
With the lack of focus, leadership, and attention to both food quality and customer service, this location really missed the mark. I won’t be returning to this Waffle House, and I hope management takes the time to address these issues to bring the standards back up to what loyal customers expect.

My girls wanted a Waffle House experience because they’ve never been to one since we live in the Northeast. So, we stopped on our way down south. I forgot how much I missed the Waffle House. Everything was great. The staff was outstanding and very attentive. If I had to complain about anything at all, it would be that the sausage gravy was a little too salty for me, but it was still good. If you haven’t been to a Waffle House, make time to stop by on one of your journeys. Obviously the waffles are a must have when you go to Waffle House, there are so many combinations you can try. Personally, I like the breakfast bowls with sausage gravy on top. The wife loves the biscuit breakfast sandwiches and the crispy hash-browns. We can’t wait until our next visit.

Was a great time. Food was fast, the service was great, we had a good time, and the prices were amazing! Can’t ask for much more. Also noticed on the way out that the bathrooms were spotless and smelled like a pool or hottub with bleach! Quite spectacular, actually, very happy we stopped in on our road trip. Oh and, 24/7 is a nice touch!

This Waffle House is a rare gem. The service was excellent. My waitress was very responsive. These restaurant was clean. My food was prepared properly and quick. Good quick food is rare. Parking and surrounding area was clean and easy access to the main rode short distance from the highway.

Just had a lovely time at the Waffle House in Colonial Heights. Dinner was by reservations only. We were greeted by sophisticatedly dressed hostesses which took us to the photo area then to our table which was beautifully decorated for privacy. We could eat by the Valentine’s Day menu or the regular menu. As always the food was wonderful!! The atmosphere was fun and full of smiles. I LOVED this experience!!!

Huge shoutout to Mandy at Waffle House for making our Easter morning so special! She was working with a smile on a holiday, which already says so much, but her kindness and attentiveness went above and beyond.
My eggs could have used a little more cook time..
My little brother (9) had a very specific (and let’s be honest—kind of chaotic) waffle order with all the sweet toppings you can imagine; even some that weren’t in their menu. Mandy didn’t just get it exactly right—she made him feel like his wild creation was the highlight of her day. Talk about a sweet tooth, am I right? He was absolutely glowing when that waffle showed up.
The food hit the spot, as always, but Mandy’s thoughtful service and great attitude really made our visit. Thank you for being amazing, Mandy—you made our Easter morning something to remember!
