The Hook Lakeside Grill is the only lakeside restaurant & bar in Mackinaw City with a balcony that has stunning views of the Mackinaw City Harbor. The windows of our 2 story balcony seating open up to allow guests to enjoy the fresh, clean lake air. Our two bars have 34 beers on tap and our wine & beer room offers a wide selection of choices that can be served right to your table. Our menu consists of Seafood including Whitefish, Salmon, Perch, Walleye, Prime Rib, delicious Beef & Brisket Burgers, and salads. Historic Railway and Ferry Exhibit located inside.

Everything was 5 stars. The food was the best we had on our trip. I had the fish and chips, large filets perfectly fried!! The Mrs won out with the coconut shrimp so good, even her sides, the rice and beans were delicious!! Couldn’t ask for a better view of the lake and the waiter was on point!! It was a great experience!!

Excellent place for friends and family hangout. Foods were awesome with a great view of the lake. As we had some dietary restrictions cause we don’t drink alcohol and some of their foods are cooked with it, they helped us choose the right ones and even made some extra veggies for some of the dishes. Had a great time over there. Definitely recommend. Also people who can have hard drink this place could be an excellent choice.

Food was not hot by the time it arrived at the table. Took us just under 1 hour to get our food! If you get Emily for your server, have some patience because you will be sitting for a while.
Rice came out like a puck, was fairly rigid and was stuck together like it was prepped a long time and just sat. None of the food was great. Very unimpressed all the way around. View was about the only good thing about the meal.

Went to celebrate my birthday with friends and had a great time! The team surprised me with a cake and even sang—such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. The food was a solid 10/10, absolutely delicious. The lady manager even stopped by to check on how everything was going, which was a nice touch and showed they really care.
Service was good overall—I’d give it an 8/10. Our server, Rudi (hope I got the name right!), had a great attitude and was friendly, though he could’ve been more attentive about clearing the table during the meal instead of waiting until the end. Cleanliness was also great—I’d say 9/10. Overall, a fun and tasty birthday night!

Went for dinner last night (Saturday) and the restaurant was completely full. The manager greeted us at the door and kindly let us know they had a table available. He also explained that the kitchen needed about 30 minutes to catch up after serving a large group of 40, but they could get us cocktails in the meantime. Several families were waiting with us, and we all agreed to be seated and enjoy a drink while the kitchen got back on track.
We’ve worked in the industry and truly appreciated the transparency and hospitality. The food was absolutely delicious—don’t miss the whitefish with lemmon pepper! Service from Dwane was great, and despite how busy it was, the place remained clean and well-managed. A solid experience overall!

Had dinner Friday night at a very busy time and still felt so well taken care of. Our server started us off, but when he stepped away the manager brought out our appetizer, refilled waters, and even gave us great recommendations about the area. She was so friendly and welcoming…we even tried to tip her 50bill, but she wouldn’t accept it!! If you’re reading this, thank you! You truly made us feel welcome and made our night, your staff can definitely learn from your warmth and service!

Visited on Saturday around 9pm—don’t miss the Puttanesca and the Salmon, both were amazing!
When we arrived, the restaurant was completely full with no tables available. The manager welcomed us at the host stand, explained the estimated wait time for both a table and food service, and we decided to stay. In the end, the wait was actually shorter than expected. Throughout the night, she checked in on us and made sure we were enjoying ourselves, which we really appreciated.
We had a great time and noticed how well the staff handled a very busy night. Unfortunately, we also saw a few guests being rude to the servers and management, despite being clearly told in advance that food would take about 40 minutes due to the high volume. Hats off to the team for staying composed, moving quickly, and managing the floor so well.
If you’re reading this, please don’t let rude or uninformed comments affect your perception—this team was professional, transparent, and did a fantastic job under pressure.

My boyfriend and I chose this restaurant based off of the reviews so I thought I’d leave one too. The food was soooo good! A little pricey, but it was delicious and the service was above and beyond. Our server was happy to be there and made our experience enjoyable! We also loved our drinks!
