Cooper’s Hawk in Burr Ridge delivered an incredible night out. The food was absolutely phenomenal — from the juicy burgers and flavorful entrees to the rich desserts and perfectly balanced drinks, every dish was memorable. The “Camille Magnificent” red wine was a standout, and the wine club perks made the experience even better.
The atmosphere was perfect for a double date: relaxed yet upscale, with great service and a stylish ambiance that made us feel like we were treating ourselves without being stuffy. We laughed all night, ate like royalty, and ended with dessert and espresso that were top-tier.
Our only wish? That they stayed open later on the weekends — we weren’t ready for the night to end!
We were a party of five dining for lunch on 01/03/26, and the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish.
We ordered soups that were supposed to be served before our entrées, but they never arrived until we had to ask for them—after our entrées were already brought out. The waitress had completely forgotten about them.
One of our children ordered a plain hamburger with no cheese, yet it came out with cheese. When we pointed it out, the waitress took it back and said “they are taking it off.” After waiting over 10 minutes, the replacement burger came out again not plain.
The manager Vanessa stopped by and asked how we were doing, so I explained the situation and the incorrect refire. Her response was simply, “I’ll let the kitchen know,” with no apology or attempt to fix the experience.
When it came time to pay, we had to ask for a child’s drink to be removed from the bill because it was already included. We also had to remind the server to bring takeout boxes. Throughout the entire meal, our table remained dirty, and no plates were cleared.
The lack of attention from both the server and the manager was unacceptable. No effort was made to improve our experience or acknowledge the issues. Terrible service and poor management. We will not be returning.
For my entrée, I chose the surf and turf: Parmesan-crusted medallions and drunken shrimp. I specifically requested the shrimp without bacon, but unfortunately, it came wrapped in bacon. I had to send the dish back and asked for the entire plate to be remade. Sadly, the second plate still came with bacon pieces on top. After waiting nearly an hour and my date finishing his meal, I completely lost my appetite. It was a disappointing experience and left me pretty upset.
However, two managers came over to apologize sincerely. Their professionalism, communication, and genuine customer service completely turned things around for me. What could’ve easily been a 1-star experience ended up being a 5-star thanks to their efforts. I rarely ever consider giving 1 star to any place, but the kitchen errors were that frustrating. That said, major kudos to the manager who clearly knows and loves what he does.
This wasn’t my first visit to this location, and despite the hiccup, it certainly won’t be my last.
