Just had my first Portillo’s experience while dog sitting and house sitting close by. I will say, for an adult that’s been pretty ADHD hos whole life, WOW! So much stimuli! LOOK, A SQUIRREL. OOH… SOMETHING BRIGHT AND SHINY. lol. The setting is very busy. It’s like an old ’50s diner on steroids. The food, however, was so memorable. We had the two hot dog meal and the double burger with fries and onion rings. Those char-broiled burgers over an open flame… mouth watering. To me, it’s about the only way to eat a burger. Those beefy hot dogs delicious as well, and I had all the toppings. Fries were so fresh and crispy, And let’s talk about those onion rings! Hand-battered makes all the difference. They were so crispy and there wasn’t a slimy onion sliding out on your first bite. I think I could have had a meal with those. The cheese sauce was a nice addition. You gotta make it that much healthier, right? Alonzo was a crew member in training that took our order, And he was kind, efficient and professional. Keep up the great work, young man! So overall, it was a good experience, but I don’t think I’ll be a regular dine-in customer. I definitely have to be in the mood for the setting, even though I’m sure many love the novelty and they do seem to have a good thing going.

Really impressed with the food quality. Perfect place to take children. My daughter has ADHD and it’s nice having the atmosphere distract her. I am gluten free and got the “Chopped” salad and was very impressed. I will go here just for the salad

I grew up on Portillo’s in Chicago and it’s nice to have a taste of Chicago so nearby and yet so far away. It’s one of those selfish, rewarding and satisfying experiences you can taste. It’s always a good day when you get a Portillo’s in you!

It looks like they only do kiosk orders now, that takes one star away for the lack of service. Also disappointed with the big combo. Seems like just a larger piece of bread, without extra meat. They put the smallest Italian sausage on it, and then left 2 inches of bread on each side of the sammich naked, no meat on them at all. They have huge milk shakes though, very tasty as well.

Nice new Portillo’s in Indy area. Italian beef tastes just like it does in Chicago locations. Good price for Italian beef sandwich. Sandwich was properly dipped with crunchy, bright gardeniera (a must add-on). Nice clean restaurant. Nice 50’s diner decor.

I had heard about this place from some friends. I thought it would be a good idea to check it out. My first impression was this. A sixty style burger and fries venue.
I enjoyed the hamburger and my condiments of choice. Also had the fries. Both were good and for the price a good value. I will be going back for a chance to check out the hot dogs.
Definitely worth a look at to see if you enjoy your food.

Haven’t had a beef in a while. Grew up in Chicago and was dropping my daughter off at a friends and saw this on the way home. Got beefs for my wife and it was on stale bread that tasted super old. The beef was in gravy that was too hot so it was super dry and the fat was separated and they just poured it over the sandwich. The host was weird and watched me and my family starring the whole time we were there. Awful experience won’t return here for sure and Portillos in general are probably out because quality has been slipping for years
