We have lived in Spartanburg for a few years but had not dined at this restaurant. Having heard good comments, we decided to try it for lunch. We were warmly greeted, promptly seated, and quickly visited by our server. I decided to order the Tavern Burger and my wife went with the Reuben. Since the French fries are not fresh cut, we selected tater tots as our sides. We did not have long to wait as we drank our pints. Both the burger and the Reuben were excellent, well made and flavorful. Good attention was paid to the bread used with the sandwiches – brioche bun for the burger and a tasty toasted swirl for the Reuben. The generous portion of tater tots were golden with no greasy taste. All in all, a good experience, and we plan to return.

The atmosphere both inside and outside was cozy and inviting. Nice for hanging out with family and friends. Our server Kasey was awesome. She made sure we had a great dining experience. My wife and I will be back again.

We ordered the appetizer sampler, a burger, and wings—the wings were especially good. Hickory Tavern features a full liquor bar and puts its own slightly modified spin on many classic drinks. While the portions are a bit small the drinks are made stout. The atmosphere is cozy, the service is good, and the menu goes well beyond standard bar food. A major plus is that they are the only place open late; they serve food until midnight and stay open until 1:00 AM on weekends. Seth the shift manager, was friendly and very much present throughout our dining experience. Our only complaint is that the cook (Sunday night) was a bit cranky about making late night food and was causing some of the staff distress as well as hurrying late night patrons to order food.

Zy was my server and I highly recommend her! It was a special occasion and she definitely made it extra special! The Diablo burger was full of flavor, tangy and well balanced paired with sautéed broccoli and crips house fries! The blackberry lemon drop was subbed with a strawberry lemon drop (seasonal) but it was BETTER than what I chose! Specials start at 4-8 so run it grab a drink, a burger and watch the game while you fill!

My husband and I went out to eat there Friday Feb. 27th, needless to say the food was good, but not good service. We waited like 40 mins. To get our food and our ticket was lost in the back. It was like people had no idea what was going on. We basically got full off of our drinks before we got the food. Don’t believe we will be going back anytime soon.

Me and my husband tried this place for the first time last week. We specifically told our waitress this. It was really cold in there and noticed everyone was wearing there jackets inside. We asked if they could start the fire or turn off the air. Finally an hour later the air was bumped up. My husband ordered a burger and i ordered chicken fingers well done and Brussels. After an 1 hour and 20 minutes our food came out my chicken was not cooked well done and my Brussels were basically just the skin. The manager came to the table and we explained how long wd have waited and what we ordered and the food was wrong how cold it was. He took my food, 20 minutes later my food came it was better. We received our bill my husband is a VA military of course 10% but the manager did nothing else!!!! We will not be back!!! Poor customer and manager service.

Idk what in tarnation Julie Key is talking about but I love this place, exceptional food, always clean, the manager goes above and beyond, and my server was the sweetest person in here. My appetizer was delicious and my steak was cooked to perfection. Hickory Tavern feels like a second home to me. Stay safe out there yall
