Dining at Trattoria Il Bargello was one of the most memorable highlights of our time in Florence. This family-style gem offers not just incredible food, but a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home.
The Florentina steak here is truly exceptional—easily the best in town. What made it even more special was the thoughtful presentation: the staff brought the raw steak to our table, explained its cut and origin with care, and let us decide before placing the order. This respectful and engaging approach reflects their deep pride in what they serve.
And then came the highlight of the night: the boss himself, joined by another staff member, appeared at our table wearing sunglasses and channeling full-on Salt Bae energy—presenting a gigantic raw T-bone steak (20kg+) for photos. It was theatrical, hilarious, and deeply endearing. That moment wasn’t just for show—it was a celebration of Tuscan cuisine, a salute to guests who appreciate it, and a simple yet powerful expression of Italian pride.
Once served, the steak was perfectly seasoned, infused with vibrant herbs and kissed by the smoky flavor of the charcoal grill. This was hands down one of the best dining experiences we had in Florence! The service was warm, attentive, and very friendly — the staff took time to explain the dishes clearly. The signature Florentine steak was perfectly cooked, juicy and flavorful. The squid ink pasta and fresh pappardelle were both delicious with rich sauces. And the tiramisu at the end was the perfect finish to the meal. The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy, and the prices were very reasonable. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Florence!

Service really top notch, ambience warm, authentic and inviting and the steak was truely delicious with the roast potatoes some of the best we have ever had… the only thing I fault here is they advertise a minimum order of 800 grams in which we ordered as best they could cut and they proceeded to bring out a cut at 1.2 kilograms. Asked for a slightly smaller cut and was told that’s all they had.. Went from an intimate dinner to feeling like a tourist in the blink of 400 grams… if they had have hit the 1 kilogram mark I would not have been bothered and raved about this… thus the loss of points

If you want to try real traditional food from Florence, THIS is the place. Not only is the food EXCELLENT, compared to any michelin star restaurant. But the staff and ambiance made it feel like home. Every dish was a wonderful surprise to all 5 of us. This is a MUST in Florence! Will come back everytime. Their in house wine was also delicious! Cannot say more of how we enjoyed our night. Thank you Roggi and staff, for such a wonderful time.

When in Florence, this is the trattoria to go for authentic pasta, full of heavenly flavours and delicious house wine. We also appreciate the kindness of the staff, who explained to us their recommendations as well. We tried 3 types of pasta with different ragus and we loved it them all. The place is lovely and we are happy to say it will be our must to go in Florence.

This was the only restaurant within our 12 day vacation, that we visited more than once. By far the best food in not only Florence but all of the cities we visited in Italy, but also the most variety within the menu. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. We were thoroughly impressed.
Not only that, the service and atmosphere were also a 10/10. It had the coziness and warmth of eating at your grandparents home, but also the sophistication of eating at a 5 star restaurant. We were treated with the utmost respect and felt valued as a customer. I could not recommend this place more! You will not regret stopping here!

There’s hundreds of restaurants in the city of Florence which make it difficult to choose. You cannot go wrong with this one. They do Tuscan flavours well and the Bistecca Fiorentina is also solid. Definitely recommend trying one of the pasta dishes – we tried the wild boar ragu papardelle which was delicious.
