I placed my order at 11:40 AM with a pickup time of 11:54 AM. Cute. Adorable, even. I arrived at 12:03, waited 6 minutes in the drive-thru staring into the void, and finally went inside where a whole support group of pickup-order refugees were gathered. We were all bonded by the shared trauma of watching walk-in customers get their food instantly while our names sat on the screen like forgotten relics.
Speaking of the screen—it’s alphabetical. ALPHABETICAL. So naturally, I thought, “Oh nice, an organized order queue!” No. It was just random names popping in and out like a glitchy slot machine, and somehow the newer names were fed before the folks standing there for 20+ minutes. My order was listed as “in progress” long enough for me to rethink several life choices.
To top it off, the drive-thru employee loudly announced she didn’t care that customers were upset, which… bold. Meanwhile, the order board was an hour behind, which pretty much sums up the vibe.
I finally got my food at 12:24 PM — a solid 30 minutes past the promised time — which is great if you’re on a lunch break and enjoy inhaling your meal like a competitive eater.
If Panda Express wants people to use their app, maybe don’t treat mobile orders like the last kid picked in kickball. Until then, walk-in seems to be the only safe option.
Regarding the food, it’s quite moderate in terms of the pricing since the portions are quite large. However the flavor is just average or a little bit above average than most campus food. The kung pao chicken and the bringing beef are the spicy items on it, and I found them to be just a bit above average spicy.
Overall an okay place if you want to grab a quick bite, but if you’re not in a hurry there are many better places around especially in downtown for almost similar pricing.
I had no idea there was a Panda in Athens now. I was so excited.
I ordered through Uber Eats.
Orange chicken and fried rice. Egg rolls, some Rangoon and for the first time trying the apple egg rolls.
What I received was Orange Chicken that was several hours old and mushy. Instead of rice, I got cabbage with a minimal amount of noodles in it. I am guessing this must be their version chow mein. The wonton, and grills were seriously overcooked and should never been served to anyone. To top it off, the food it it’s entirety was a few degrees above room temperature upon arrival.
Between the order and the delivery, we paid over $50 for this slop. Never again. So angry. I tried calling the store. No answer. Wouldn’t expect much else for any rendition of fast food in Athens. But I hoped. This is definetely a one and done. Don’t bother.
Update. I have tried to contact this store several times about this issue. The phone usually just rings with no answer. So I tried this morning. I now got a recording saying it was not a working number, but then offering contact info for UGA?
Horrible customer service. I want a full refund with my delivery charge as well.
