La Fogata has been serving Denver for 30+ years, and after finally trying it, I get why it’s such a staple.
The food was incredible from start to finish, but the tacos al carbon and the green chile stole the show. (And this is coming from someone who usually avoids green chile — theirs turned me into a fan instantly.)
Everything I tried was fresh and flavorful: chile con queso, shrimp cocktail, fajita burrito, and those tacos with the most perfect tortillas. Add in a margarita, and it’s the kind of meal that keeps you coming back.
This spot is a true Denver institution, and definitely worth a visit if you love Mexican food.

Best restaurant in the Denver metro or at least the best cantina style Mexican restaurant. Steak fajitas are amazing but there are a lot of great things on the menu here. Chimichanga, marinated pork tacos, flautas, quesadillas, never had a bad meal here. Very fun and nice bartender. Don’t understand how someone could dislike this place.

La Fogata gets mentioned a lot in the best old school Mexican category for Denver and I can see why. First bite into the cheese enchilada and the flavor POPPED for real. Always a good sign when a simple bean burrito hits the spots too, and add to that the signature eggroll wrapper on the chile relleno and I might have a new favorite combo plate. Had to take this first one to go but would like to come back in person for the full experience. Service was quick and courteous. BIEN HECHO!

I discovered La Fogata over 20 years ago and it has become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Denver. Service is always excellent (kudos to Hector, Maria, Rene and Danny!) and so many good options to choose from. My favorites are the Carnitas Platter and Chicken Enchiladas… both exceptional! End with the tastiest Flan in the region and you have the makings of a great meal. Highly recommended.

The service was great! The food was ok. It’s tough to stand out in Denver serving Mexican food. Given that, it’s on par, as expected and did not exceed any expectations. I would recommend this place to come for a pitcher of margaritas with chips and salsa on the side. Worth it for the drinks!

I come to La Fogata every time I’m in Denver and they NEVER disappoint!!! From the genuinely friendly staff to the amazing food it’s always a great dining experience. My grown children also make La Fogata a must visit when they come to town. Lots of memories made here. If you have time to go to just one place to eat, go see them!

Seated right away and immediately had waters, chips and salsa brought. Food was delicious, and it’s great to know they have some breakfast items on the dinner menu! Will definitely return to take tummy advantage of those options. Their sopapillas for dessert were heavenly. I already want more! Attentive service, so we will be returning.

I had a craving, and nothing was gonna satisfy it except to get a chicharron breakfast burrito with beans smothered, glorious green chili. I remember coming here when I was in my twenties.Such a great place and still is. Everything was very fresh and very flavorful.
