The Standout Dishes
Arrachera Tacos: These were the star of the show. The smoky flavors in the beef were unbelievable—you get that authentic char from the wood fire that makes the steak incredibly savory and tender.
Coconut Ceviche: This was an absolute delight. The coconut added a subtle, creamy sweetness that balanced the citrus perfectly. It felt unique, refreshing, and high-end.
With the new American Express Platinum refresh, I now get $100 a quarter to spend at any Resy restaurant. We decided to finally check out Sausal, intrigued by their menus online and, specifically, their coconut flan.
Well… Color us extremely impressed! The food was on the slightly pricier side, but it was VERY good and very filling. Every dish we tried was delicious and had substance – it honestly was way more filling than I thought just looking at it. My short rib quesabirria tacos had sooo much meat, and the consomme was amazing. So were the rice and beans. Kiddo ordered a pork shank dish that was super flavorful and came with tortillas, rice, and black beans. They were nice enough to put the chipotle crema on the side too since he’s still learning to tolerate spicy food. Partner ordered the cashew mole dish and that, again, was SO good.
The happy hour drinks were bomb too, I loved the vamos a la playa. And again, the drinks had substance… They weren’t watered down at all.
The coconut flan… That thing was so good we immediately began thinking about bringing them for family gatherings it was perfect.
We’ll definitely be going back again and again!
Amazing servers for an incredible experience. So personable, charming, and authentic. They do so well to be attentive without being too much. Wonderful human beings! These two servers make SAUSAL come to life with personality and love. Thank you, ladies!
CHEF ANNE CONNESS
Works wonders creating dishes that will have you day dreaming about returning. The jicama slaw, the smashed black beans and Mexican rice…goddamn. If she can do the most humble of food this well…?!
MEXICO CITY
Right in El Segundo (if you know, you know)…how cool is this restaurant? The bar design, the food and drinks, the music, the decor…I’ve been longing to return to Mexico City to feel that unique hypercool energy and SAUSAL has been holding it down right here!
ST. VALENTINE’S DAY
We went in for an early experience at noon and it was everything we wanted and more. We shared several small plates, gorgeous margaritas, N/A Mexican beers, enchiladas with cashew mole, and green pozole.
Thank you SAUSAL for being YOU!!
The service was fantastic. The drinks were great. The food was so delicious. I highly recommend! Can’t wait to come back.
The nachos were whole nachos like
I’d never seen before. We ordered
– chatted corn elote
– ceviche
– grilled shrimp salad
– lamb enchilada
– empanadas
– sticky date
– coconut flan
Every single thing was delicious barring the sticky toffee which was nothing to write home about. But a British dish in a Mexican place, I won’t hold them to that. That coconut flan, ceviche and corn was out of this world. This is a must try for Mexican food lovers.
Diego was an amazing server–so attentive, kind, and on top of everything without ever being intrusive. He made sure every detail was handled perfectly and really elevated the entire dining experience.
Brianna was also incredible as a food runner. She was personable, efficient, and warm, and her energy added so much to the experience. You can tell she genuinely cares about guests and takes pride in what she does.
Oz, the manager, tied it all together. He was extremely professional, present, and clearly leads his team with intention. His leadership shows in the consistency and quality of service across the board.
This level of service is what keeps people coming back. Every single person mentioned made the experience feel personal, thoughtful, and exceptional.
