I recently ate at Sausal, and it was truly some of the most delicious Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. The kitchen perfectly captures that “Nuevo Rancho” style with a mix of deep, smoky notes and bright, coastal ingredients.
The Standout Dishes
Arrachera Tacos: These were the star of the show. The smoky flavors in the beef were unbelievable—you get that authentic char from the wood fire that makes the steak incredibly savory and tender.
Coconut Ceviche: This was an absolute delight. The coconut added a subtle, creamy sweetness that balanced the citrus perfectly. It felt unique, refreshing, and high-end.

Excellent Happy Hour menu with food and drinks. Great for groups and very nice space as well. There is street parking and some lots nearby so parking can take some time. The standout dish for me was the Ceviche. It’s not on the HH menu but so unique and delicious with coconut cream giving it a tropical vibe. All the tacos are great too and my favorite is the Al Pastor. Service was nice and quick also. Good place to check out and would love to come back!

With the new American Express Platinum refresh, I now get $100 a quarter to spend at any Resy restaurant. We decided to finally check out Sausal, intrigued by their menus online and, specifically, their coconut flan.
Well… Color us extremely impressed! The food was on the slightly pricier side, but it was VERY good and very filling. Every dish we tried was delicious and had substance – it honestly was way more filling than I thought just looking at it. My short rib quesabirria tacos had sooo much meat, and the consomme was amazing. So were the rice and beans. Kiddo ordered a pork shank dish that was super flavorful and came with tortillas, rice, and black beans. They were nice enough to put the chipotle crema on the side too since he’s still learning to tolerate spicy food. Partner ordered the cashew mole dish and that, again, was SO good.
The happy hour drinks were bomb too, I loved the vamos a la playa. And again, the drinks had substance… They weren’t watered down at all.
The coconut flan… That thing was so good we immediately began thinking about bringing them for family gatherings it was perfect.
We’ll definitely be going back again and again!

Went here on a whim to try to happy hour and it didn’t disappoint! I tried one of everything on the menu except the jalapeño poppers (I’m a baby when it comes to spice lol). The croquette was my FAV! Mostly bc I love potatoes in every shape and form haha. Will definitely be a go-to spot when I’m in town! It’s in such a cute area too! Service was top notch.

Wow!!! What an amazing place. Just happened to stumble in here before a flight from LAX and ended up at their 4 to 6pm Happy Hour. Also, they only serve wings on Mondays and they are the Top 3 best wings I’ve ever had. They were the size of turkey legs

Definitely coming back here. It’s a great vibe and I love the fire place in the middle of the restaurant. The servers were super friendly and helpful. The mezcal cockles are delicious!!! Oh and the elote was 10/10. Everything was great and the portions were generous. Easy to find parking behind the restaurant.

Really enjoyed this upscale Mexican restaurant in downtown El Segundo for date night with my wife. Mixed drinks were very well done. Recommend the El Viejo. Food has decent portions and rich flavors. Great ambiance, stylish bar area, comfortable seating, & warm lighting. I think we’ll be back. Love the area, but this spot is an upgrade to the nearby bars and breweries.

From the moment I walked in, I felt genuinely cared for. Elena, the hostess, went above and beyond in a way that truly stood out. I had accidentally left my jacket behind on a previous visit, and she kept it safe for an entire week. When I came back, she remembered me and made returning it a priority, which made me feel incredibly valued as a customer. That level of attentiveness and care is rare.
Diego was an amazing server–so attentive, kind, and on top of everything without ever being intrusive. He made sure every detail was handled perfectly and really elevated the entire dining experience.
