..I ordered a mocktail, they only offered one flavor and it had pineapple juice, after much deliberation with the waitress they substituted cranberry juice, it was fine. My husband ordered the espresso martini and it was good. We ordered the crab cakes as appetizers. I thought they were very good, but my husband did not like them, but he tends to compare them to the ones in Maryland. I got the stuffed flounder, there was nothing special about it, and I was disappointed. The fish was slightly dry but the crab stuffing was good. It was plated with two rings of seed mustard, and it was unnecessary and overpowering. The spinach under the fish was very sour tasting and not pleasant. My husband got the swordfish and said it was average but cooked to his liking. I got the Bender fries, which was like a potatoes pancake. The only thing I can say is that I couldn’t eat it. I don’t know what happened in that kitchen but someone must have forgotten that they had salted it and they kept salting it, it was horrible! I asked for a vegetable and that was cauliflower, it was better than the potato. The dessert was better than the meal. Crème Brûlée, outstanding and the chocolate mouse pie was very good.
However I couldn’t enjoy the food
It was nice and unique to try turtle soup , tasted a bit like gator but the soup itself was so sweet on sherry
The chicken also so sweet
The bender fries were not fries and burnt. Imagine a smashed potato then fried
It was too burnt for me too enjoy
Steamed veggies tasted like they were microwaved from frozen
The bread pudding was decent
The smoked duck was really good with pesto and sundried tomato
Reservations are limited on holidays so book early
Some folks got the coated halibut, that was the only decent thing
124 year old restaurant!! You must be doing everything at the top of your game to last this long.
Make reservations or you won’t get a table. Bar seating is 1st come 1st served and bar seating is limited.
There’s simply too many positive things to say about this place – check it out for yourself, you won’t be disappointed!
Their hospitality is top notch, service from Andrea was great, and the food is always delicious. We had the mussels for appetizer, I had the halibut and my wife had the scallops. Shared a bottle of wine.
Awesome date night.
