Stopped here twice while traveling through on a trip to Missouri. I got “the bbq” on the first visit, and “chicken ranch” the second. My wife got sandwiches both times. I got gluten free crust on my pizza.
The quality was good, quantity more than adequate. We were there for weekday lunch both times. It was busy, a little noisy, both times. The gluten free crust was cooked perfectly for me: browned and crisp.
It’s pay at the counter, pick up at the counter when they call your name.

The pizza was great as usual. It always amazes me how quickly they get made. The place was pretty busy when we arrived, and there were 4 people ahead of us in line to order. We still had our food about 5-7 minutes after placing the order, which for pizza seems pretty fast.

I have been here twice now. The pizza is really good, and the menu is quite exciting. They have a nice variety of toppings to choose from, as well as some preset pizza options. They allowed me to get less cheese on my pizza, but it was still delicious. It’s a pretty unique spot and a great place in the Newton area. Pictured is a build your own pizza with light cheese, marinara sauce, chicken, banana peppers, and onions.

Great setup for a large group! We brought my daughter’s volleyball team here. The staff was friendly, pizza was delicious. (I highly recommend the meat pizza!). Cool atmosphere also!

From the second we walked in, we were treated like regulars. The hostess at the front was incredibly kind and welcoming, and the rest of the staff followed suit — super friendly, helpful, and genuinely seemed to care that we had a great experience.
But what really sealed the deal? The timing of the food — 10/10. Everything came out fast, fresh, and piping hot. No long waits, no awkward gaps — just smooth, perfect pacing from drinks to appetizers to the main course.
And the pizza? Unreal. Crispy crust, bold flavors, fresh ingredients — hands down one of the best pies I’ve had in a while. The whole experience felt dialed in.
This place nails it across the board — food, service, and hospitality. Highly recommend.

This is a great pizza place. We get it while traveling through going to see family. We have eatin there once but we order online and pick up to keep driving usually. The pizza is brick oven so it has that specific taste we have grown to expect. The people are great and our pizza’s are always wonderful.

Back Alley Pizza was as good as advertised. The Taco Pizza was sweeter than expected. The Planter Pizza minus onions was full of flavor. The Chicken Sub was good. The pizzas can be and were consumed by one person. However, if you have a small eater then the pizzas could be shared. They served a variety of bottle and canned beers and other bottled products. They have a full fountain selection with three fresh brewed teas (sweet, unsweet, and some berry flavored). They have a help yourself Salted Creamery freezer (pay at the register). Overall the pie selection will prompt me to stop in again every time we are in Newton or need to stop for food while driving past Newton. Just 6 mins off of 135 in the heart of Newton.

Let me start off this review by saying that I very much enjoyed my dining experience here. The pizza was delicious, and what creative/ fun variations! The Atmosphere was very fun and original! The only downside was that the ice cream dessert option was pretty lackluster, but the other desserts were great. The next time I’m in town, I’ll definitely pay Back Alley Pizza another visit!
