Born into an Italian family in Roseland, a South Chicago Italian neighborhood, Tom Gelsosomo has always loved great Italian food. As an aspiring young entrepreneur who had worked hard in restaurants in the late 1970’s, Tom wanted to share his love for Italian food with people through his Gelsosomo’s (Jel-sah-so-mos) Pizzeria restaurant concept. Tom decided to open his first restaurant in Portage, Indiana in 1979. We take great pride in offering the highest quality and service ever offered anywhere. Only natural ingredients are used in our products, along with the highest quality control standards. Our service expectations are high, but without these standards and loyal patrons, our pizzerias would not be as successful as they are today.

Love this place pizza has always been delicious every single time i order. Delivery man Mark is the nicest man in the world I ordered Delivery the other day n fell asleep b4 he got here. I was knocked out missed his phone calls and knocking. He was very patient cause he came back numerous times till I got my pizza. My dog finally woke me up. He went above and beyond. Gelsosomos got a customer for life.

Such a fun atmosphere. I loved the decor inside. The food was fantastic. We got the Works pizza and my chicken fettuccine with garlic cheese bread for the appetizer. Our waitress was wonderful and very attentive.

Ordered a well done thin crust veggie pizza with chicken added. It was a little too well done as the crust was too hard to bite with all my good teeth. Next time I’ll get it as is. Nice flavor though.

Ordered a crispy 2 buffalo chicken salads with extra ranch for delivery came out to approximately 30$+
Recieved thrown together grilled chicken salads.. when I called the lady told me is all they would be able to give me is a $5 credit for not getting my ranch. Horrible service, no phone etiquette or any care for customers.

So it was pizza time again but this time we wanted to try Gelsosomo’s and it definitely didn’t disappoint. Pizza was awesome! All the sides were very good especially that cheese sauce that must’ve had a hint of jalapeño inside. The only thing was that we ordered the fried ravioli and was given the poppers instead but other than that no complaints. Will definitely come back!

We ordered January 7th an order from Gelsosomos Pizzeria for the first time, and it will be the only time we will order the Strombolis were dry the fries were hard the Tommy G’s half order had no flavor and the spinach salad had a very odd taste to it . So sorry Gelsosomos Pizzeria but if we are to try a pizza from there I hope it’s a lot better the the last order we got was.

It pains me to write this review, this has been my favorite pizza place in the area for 15 years but the quality has collapsed. Over the last 8 months my order has arrived more than an hour later than told and the pizza has arrived completely cold. I called to get things fixed and the sent a cold pizza over an hour late for the mistake. Avoid this place until they fix their issues.
