I’ve been in Gatlinburg more times than I can remember, a never had a chance (or the right people) to eat here despite my wish of doing so every time I drove/walked by. This past January, I went again to town in a family trip and FINALLY got the chance to try it. I’m truly upset I didn’t eat here before!!! Food is exquisite, hash puppies? BEST ones I’ve ver had (I don’t even like his puppies), and saying that service was top notch is an understatement. The place is small and cozy, perfect for a relaxed and wonderful dining experience.

Attention to details in the food is the main thing in this restaurant. Trouts are grilled to perfection and the sides are fabulous. I was undecided about what to eat and I asked the waitress to surprise me and she did. Their trout parmesana was incredible, the smoked one with bacon was stupendous and the grilled with lime was fantastic. The sides were great specially the mushrooms with onions and the fried ocras, and the beer was ice cold. The service was fenomenal. The value was completely worth it. I will come back every time I travel to Gatlinburg. 100% recommended.

Stopped at the Smoky Mountain Trout House while visiting Gatlinburg and it ended up being one of my favorite meals of the trip. I had the blackened trout with rice and a side salad. The trout is all local from the Smoky Mountains and you can really taste how fresh it is. They also bring homemade chips and hush puppies that are warm and crispy. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, and the whole place has a cozy mountain lodge feel. It is the kind of spot that makes you want to come back on your next trip. A must try for anyone looking for great local food and one of the best restaurants in Gatlinburg.

Truly perplexed as to how there is not a line down the street for a table here.
Our food came out extremely quickly both times my wife and I enjoyed this restaurant while in Gatlinburg. Our first experience was good enough to warrant a second stop on our short trip.
In terms of value, the cost to enjoy a meal here is incredibly reasonable, at just over $20 a head.
The food shines in its simplicity. Everything tastes very fresh, is well seasoned, and portions are certainly enough to fill you up.
If you haven’t been, this is one of the hands down best experiences you’ll have on the Parkway. Just far enough down to skip out of the chaos, free parking for patrons, and just a damn fine time.

This place is such a find!! The food is so good and very reasonably priced. The restaurant is small and they don’t take reservations so I recommend putting your name on the list and walking to Gatlinburg Brewing Company at the end of the block for a delicious drink while you wait. Then get ready for fresh, home cooked deliciousness The blackened trout was fantastic! The hush puppies were soooo yummy. Enjoy!!

If you are looking for a spot that the locals know, this is it. It’s not fancy. But the food is excellent. We were here 9 years ago and it’s just as good as it was then. They do have other things but they focus on Trout. You can go to the big fancy places and not get better. Can get busy as it’s not a huge place. But give it a try. It’s all about the food!!!

The Trout House is excellent. We came early to avoid the rush. We had no line, and quiet, nearly private experience. Trout is the only thing on the menu. Fried, baked, blackened , fritters, bacon stuffed, and several others. Good price, large portions, good sides, refills on soda and tea. It is all rainbow trout from a local farm. Highly recommended.

Such a wonderful little location. Not a whole lot of seating. Was not a long wait on a Sunday night. Obviously not one of the hot spots. But man was the trout fantastic. They were great with a shellfish allergy. The wait staff was extremely friendly and nice. The wait was not long. And really can’t say it enough the food was just fantastic.

Cool atmosphere; unique shtick (16 trout recipes). Apparently you can do your own fishing across the street..? I had the smoked trout; it was pretty good. My son got the fried chicken- he loved it. I avoided the common dad statement that I overheard from other tables several times over the duration of our meal; “we’re at the trout house and you’re ordering the chicken…” followed by several similar commentaries. It is a small place and the service is quick so you won’t have to hear that too much – either way, you’ve been warned.

Casual and simple. The chef knows how to fry or broiil trout. Any deep fry was not greasy. Delirious small cafe for trout!…almost any way you like it!
