I went to Applebee’s for the first time in my life on 9/12/25 around 8pm. I walk in the lady greets us and walks away. Didn’t think anything of it, so we sit at a booth. I noticed both workers at the entrances were staring at our table. Finally a waitress comes over and ask to take our order to which I replied” we don’t have menu’s “. She replied, “oh did you seat yourselves? No worries let me go grab some menu’s.” Now right off the bat those 2 employees should have came over at some point in their stares to say something. But we place our order and we wait. I look around the place and noticed their was all kinds of garbage on the ground scattered throughout the place. Our appetizers get here and at first bite it seemed fine. By the second bite I could tell that the quality in the food is not good. Frozen food that has been re-cooked and thrown in sauce. Then our burgers come, I had the mushroom Swiss burger and my partner had a chicken sandwich. The bottom of my bun was soggy from the juices of the sauteed mushrooms and onions. The swiss cheese didn’t even taste like Swiss cheese, it was some watered down knock off that tasted like provolone. The patty itself was bland. And together the taste was not pleasing. My partners sandwich was terrible as well. I tried my best to finish my burger but I honestly didn’t want to force that down. Finally our dessert gets there.. my suspicions were correct. Frozen stuff that gets reheated and you add one or 2 things.. the food is absolutely 1 star, the service is going to vary depending on the staff. I gave it 1 stars because the little girls at the entrance should have done their jobs when they saw us seat ourselves but I bumped it up to 3 stars because my actual waitress did her job. (Synthia) . Atmosphere gets 3 stars cuz it was dirty and the lights were flickering. The food made the atmosphere a lot less desirable for me. I personally wouldn’t go back or even recommend this specific applebees. But if you’ve never went Go check it out.

Maya is awesome! Honey barbecue boneless chicken wings were very good. Chicken Alfredo fettuccine was excellent. Grilled cheese cheeseburger was very good.

Haven’t been to a Applebees in quite a while but we saw the new commercial that was advertising the new O M Cheeseburger and thought it would be a great place for my wife’s birthday. Didn’t realize our Applebees we used to go to doesn’t have the OM Cheeseburger. Found a restaurant in Portage that had it. We were going in excited about the new item but left pretty disappointed with the quality of the product, seemed like the French fries had more flavor than the burger. I was surprised that my grandson ate everything on his plate because he’s pretty picky. I might try again if they still have this burger.

i never leave reviews like this but something just compelled me to tonight LOL. so we got sat at our booth and nobody tended to us for like 15 minutes until a server in another section asked if anybody had helped us get to which we replied, “no.” everything was going pretty smoothly and good service wise until we finished eating. she was too busy chatting at the bar with patrons and coworkers. about 10 mins goes by and she walked past us and ignored our empty dishes and went back to the bar area to chat more. i planned on ordering dessert but couldn’t as 15-20 more minutes passed of her just chatting at the bar again ignoring us. once she did finally come back to our table to do her job instead of chatting at the bar, she handed us a check and didn’t ask if we needed or wanted anything else beforehand. i was already pretty upset at this point from waiting for so long to simply get quality service at the end of our meal that i didn’t even want to bother interrupting her bar chat session again so i didn’t get to order my dessert. i really wasn’t even given an opportunity to anyways. food was great, just don’t know why our service was so disappointing this time around.

Our first date night in over 6 months. Started out with a crushed purple crayon in the crack of my booth. Then started sweating (my fault) did not see the sign on the door. Come to find out air conditioning has been out for approximately 3 months. Then we received our food. The fettuccine alfredo wasn’t even warm, the plate was hot, but the noodles were cold. Took quite awhile for server to come back and check on our food. The server had the kitchen remake just the noodle part so when it did come out the chk parm part was cold. The server dropped the check and stated “the manager put a discount on the check.” Mind you the whole time we were there ” the manager” never came to the table and when I looked at the check it was a $2.63 discount. So, needless to say our date night was ruined, food cold, and was charged $1.29 for a side of BBQ that was a substitute for a spicy bacon sauce (burger), and beyond hot. Not sure why the owner of this establishment would allow there employees to work in those conditions let alone the paying customers with a heat wave outside. When we spoke to a couple of people in the restaurant learned that the air conditioner being broke has been going on for months and the sign on the door even states “STILL” not working. I worked in restaurants for many years so I get things happen but this was more than that and to top it off the manager didn’t even come to our table!!! WOW!!!
9.5.25, update as of Labor Day Weekend the sign on the front has finally been removed. I heard from the corporate office which stated I would be contacted by the actual Applebee’s owner since this restaurant was owned separately. I still have no received any communication from the Applebee’s I. Portage, IN. Really???

Went here for a little date with my boyfriend and I will never go here or to another Applebees in my life. We sat down, there was a poster next to us on the wall of three drinks for 5 each or whatever. A Long Island, a margarita, and a Bahama mama. I ordered a Bahama mama, after about 15 minutes I finally got it, it was a margarita, which was fine, a simple mistake. I told the server and instead of just making the right drink she stood there and fought with me about which drinks were which I had to google the drinks and what’s in them for her and her bartender. The bartender was obviously drunk, they stood there and laughed at us, never corrected anything, told us they were out of all the mixers, never substituted. Then after 40 minutes of waiting there with zero food or drinks. The server comes back to say “you just wanna cancel your orders then?” Worst service ever, didn’t eat or drink anything, waste of time. If I could give them zero stars I would, honestly.

I’ve always had a great experience here with my family or just getting a cold one at the bar with a buddy. Food is good. Friendly environment and so far, always have had good service. They have good lunch specials as well with low wait times on your meals. Served fresh.

The server was good. The food was underwhelming. No flavor in either my husband’s or my dish. He ordered a Cajun pasta dish with chicken and sausage, I had the chicken with bacon and hot honey. His Cajun pasta dish tasted like nothing, definitely no Cajun. The meal I ordered was bland too. It comes with onions and mushrooms which it had 2 mushrooms and onion that again had no flavor. The waffle fries with my meal were really good though. We started out with spinach and artichoke dip, not a single artichoke in the dip and again lacked flavor. It’s been years since we’ve been to the Portage location and we definitely won’t be coming back.

We were there on VALENTINES DAY it was a 45 minute wait. But if you look at the photos there was only six tables seated. I don’t understand why we couldn’t be seated. I walk with a cane due to knee problems, and had to stand for 15 minutes before we left. Terrible management. The only person we saw was the hostess who said she was told not to seat anyone. WORSE APPLEBEE’S IN AMERICA.
