We sat inside at a large booth.
They have a full cocktail menu. The women sitting behind us ordered a pumpkin cocktail.
Their menus is big, lots to choose from. Appetizers included wings, eggplant stack and more.
Entrees include salads, soup, burgers, and full entrees.
My aunt had the eggplant stack and liked it. I had ahi tuna on salad, the tuna was fresh, delicious and came with a homemade ginger dressing.
My uncle enjoyed the eggplant parmigiana served on a large bed of spaghetti. The serving was quite large
The service was good.
The atmosphere was fine even though it was mostly empty. Everything was fine – nobody did anything wrong and all food was edible. The quality of the food however was disappointing, especially considering the price. This food was worse quality and higher price than the diner.
Dirty, and extremely cheap silverware. Ripped booth seats covered with tape. Tables seem to be just refinished and you can unintentionally take the finish off if you’re not careful.
Bar menu, ridiculously expensive. You can get cheaper drinks at the local casinos. Didn’t have a bunch of the beers on the menu. Misspellings all over the menu, an elementary school child could have written it better, not a joke. Anyway, settled for a Heineken, I’m delivered a somewhat cold bottle with no glass, interesting. During dinner asked for another and I had to ask the waitress to clear the empty bottle off the table.
They apparently got rid of their iconic salad & dressing. No bread. Laughable. I got the Swordfish Margarita. Simply gross, almost inedible… seriously. I’m convinced it was cooked, then frozen, and reheated in a microwave. It was so overcooked it was almost like eating a cheap, dried out, chewy piece of steak. The sauce was really gross, but maybe it was just me, the best way I can explain it… regurgitated lemon meringue pie. The rice was hard, not undercooked type of hard, but as if it was exposed to the air for at least a day then reheated when I ordered it. The broccoli was not cooked at all basically.
I am very flexible and worked in the restaurant industry for a few years, I get it, you’ll never make everyone happy. This is beyond that. This is self sabotage and the destruction & disrespect of something that was once great.
I can only imagine a non-local who had no clue what this place was bought it and is focusing on the visiting, vacationing crowd. They of course will get them, but I’d genuinely be shocked if they get repeat customers, and all of the locals are aware of the pitiful state of this once great staple of Lake Wallenpaupack.
Maybe when the restaurant inevitably changes ownership again it will be revived into something better.
I apologized to my mother for bringing her there, it genuinely ruined our night.
The pork chops were another highlight, perfectly juicy and delicious. Our meal was further enhanced by an inventive cocktail menu that didn’t disappoint. The strawberry cheesecake for dessert was simply divine, ending our meal on a high note.
A special mention must go to our server, whose kindness and attentiveness made our dining experience even more special. The Boat House is a must-visit for anyone looking for delicious food and impeccable service.
Food was really good and service too.
A place to remember.
We came here after reading the reviews for a late lunch. Also, lots of restaurants in this area are not open M-Thurs. for lunch anyway. Upon arrival, we noticed the musty smell that was close to dirty socks or unwashed feet. Lacking options, we stayed. The restaurant was empty- we thought service would be fast. No, it took more than half an hour to get our food even though we were the only patrons. The food was the biggest disappointment after all. The chicken sandwich was cold and tasted like rubber. We ordered 2 appetizers and 4 sandwiches. Only the pulled pork sandwich was edible. Wow!! Worst food in our lives in all the continents we have ever been to. Not recommending to any friend. Enemies, go ahead.
