My husband and I saw a YouTube video on this restaurant for breakfast, so we planes our visit for this morning to try it. This is an adorable little restaurant. We had made reservations, but there really was no need. It was practically empty at 8:30am. A small group of 4 came in after us, but I think they were just having coffee and beignets before church, because they left quickly. There are a lot of choices to make and the portion sizes are huge! I got the Catfish & Eggs with the Yankee Spuds. I got the fish blackened, but you can also get them deep fried. I think this is the best blackened catfish I’ve ever had! Hubby got the Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs. After eating a much as we could, we got boxes, but also had to try the beignets. They come fresh deep fried with powdered sugar and a side of maple syrup. They were really good, but I think they would’ve been better with a chocolate or caramel syrup to dip them in. I almost forgot to mention the peanuts to eat while you’re waiting for your food. This is a great place for breakfast! I know we will be back, because there are so many other things in the menu we didn’t try. Plus, there’s lunch & dinner to try also!

The sign outside says “Welcome Home.” And that’s exactly how you feel when you walk in the door. You’re greeted by the friendly staff, seated, and ready to be treated. The decor will take you back to Grandma’s house.

So first I want to start off by saying I’ve been coming to this place for over 20 years. I’ve brought many family members to this place.
And also friends, I don’t know what they did to their menu. But you can tell that this business is doing very poorly being that I have managed restaurants myself.
The waitress came over to my table and said, be careful. This fried chicken just came fresh out of the fryer.
I was very angry because in my line of vision was the kitchen and I saw where the cook had microwaved it. I went in around lunchtime between noon and 1 o’clock.
There was only 2 other people in the restaurant. I have bragged about this place for over twenty years.Even in other states, if you’re ever in california visit johnny rebs i would say.
The only thing that was good was the size Cajun, rice and beans.
But as you see, it’s in a styrofoam container.
Which we know not to put hot food in, but anyways.
The bones in the chicken were black.
Which indicates that chicken had either been sitting a long time and or was refrigerated from the day before and reheated my best guess.
And I’m probably right. I noticed the menu was a lot of sandwiches and bowls.Which they’re using leftovers and selling it at a high price. No, quality in the food anymore. Well, cutting corners and charging prices for bad food. When I could have went to any fast food chain and probably got a better meal for cheaper is outrageous and purely diabolical. This is how you lose a loyal customer. I have came to this place since my son was a little boy and I drive from miles away just for the biggest disa

The brisket burnt ends bowl was just full of fat. You can see in relation to the size of the bowl how much fat is on the plate next to it. Unfortunate because the flavor was good. Mashed potatoes are great, corn bread was dry and tasteless. Bbq and soul food is what I was raised on and this is not it.

We bought the Thanksgiving Feast and it was delicious. The smoked turkey was so good & easy to reheat. We got a pound of ham & that melted in our mouths….really good. The sides…mushroom dressing, mashed potatoes & mac n cheese were really good. Greens needed more flavor and needed to be cooked just a bit longer. Dessert was a delicious peach cobbler. Overall really good dinner & dessert. I would definitely buy this feast again. Thank you JRTS.

Likeed the Johnny Rebs’ in Orange but it closed. While in Long Beach we checked this out. Just as good. Great service. Nice interior and an enclosed patio extension for busy times or nice days. Peach cobbler was overpriced. Liked the collard greens. Not found often.

Absolute number one place to get some delicious catfish and southern sides this is the only JR’s left and unfortunately the food has gone down in taste. The corn meal was falling off the tomatoes, which has never happened before. The hush puppies were burnt but the server was trying to assure this southern lady that this was the way it was supposed to be. The sauce for the ribs didn’t taste anything like the good ole bbq sauce. The catfish, luckily, tasted very good and the fillets were large, which really is the main reason we go there.

Ordered for pick up, and I been looking forward to eating the baby back ribs that I was totally craving for as I previously had prior good experience. But unfortunately, I don’t know what happen but the food was horrible. First the baby back ribs were hard and over cooked, Very disappointed. Second, My order request was also double Baby Back Ribs, and you wont believe this, they gave me 3 ribs, I was like what happened, 3 ribs for double Baby Back Ribs order. Plus I was not given extra barbecue sauce, instead I was given syrup, Wow!
I guess the only good part of our dinner was the sweet potatoes fries. Very disappointed with high prices for Very bad quality and Low quantity food.
