Great place, Great Estaminet with Delicious food and great service! Their place is beautifully decorated with old antiques, just at the top of Cassel! Their Flamiche tarte was simply delicious, their Carbonnade flamande stew was excellent also. Their beer tarte was very tasty also! Great beer selection at good prices, we even tried the best belgian style ale for 2022! Quick, excellent and friendly service by a young man also! A must when in Cassel!

An extraordinary traditional local restaurant offering the cuisine of Flanders. The window looks out over hundreds of square miles of farmland from the top of the only hill in the area. The food is distinctive but rustic. Crockery does not match, wooden furniture is bashed around a bit, and the ingredients are simple. So much better than haute cuisine. Prices are reasonable.

Remains a highlight on any trip in the area. Unique location, building, views (both from the main room and the terrace, which also gives a view on the nearby Mill) and ambiance, quick attentive and friendly service, tasty food and great local beers.
It’s French, but with Flemish heart it seems (as common in this corner of the country), and some Flemish is even voluntarily spoken.
We tried carbonnade flammandes, the local “Anosteké” beer and chocolate-speculoos slice. All were uncomplicated but delicious and we enjoyed them very much. The carbonnade was especially tender, much yum.
