Mountain Pizza & Taproom – South Fork
Reviews
Mountain Pizza in South Fork has great pizza with fresh ingredients and generous toppings. The crust is solid and the flavors are on point. That said, it’s definitely on the pricier side for pizza. Good spot if you’re craving quality and don’t mind paying extra, but not ideal if you’re looking for a budget meal.
Is the pizza tasty? Yes. Is the service a little slow at times? Yes, but temper your expectations as this is a small town spot, not a pizzeria in New York City.
Is it a good restaurant if you like pizza and beer? Yes!
First night was just one guy working. Second was three people. Similar speed. Worth coming here if you like pizza and beer and aren’t in a giant hurry. Sausage and pepperoni was great. Fried mushrooms too!
There were three people working when we placed our order. By the time we sat down at our table they were down to two people. I’m not sure why someone would leave when the place was so busy.
We had two orders. One a pizza and the other wings, fries, and a salad. Wing came out before anything. We wait for about 45 minutes and then went to ask about the salad and fries that were ordered with the fries. We got the run around that they were busy and would get to it. We understand they were busy but who puts out a partial order? How did wings get done before a salad that just had to be thrown on a plate and takes no cooking? Why couldn’t the fries and wings be cooked at the same time.
We waited some more. For the pizza about an hour and half after we ordered it. Still no fries. Went and asked again if we could get the fries because we were ready to leave at this point. Got attitude again. Waited a bit longer. When they were finally down the men on oxygen yelled out number and threw the to go box of fries on the counter.
Very unprofessional.
I really hope they can get some staff in there. This place could be nice.
I picked them up and said that their behavior was completely uncalled for when they had such poor service.
I understand that they were short on staff but nobody wants their meal served over the course of 1 & 1/2 hrs, all completely separate.
We are from Texas so this was a very poor experience of the hospitality.
I waited nearly an hour for my pizza while only two people slaved away making food, taking orders, and serving customers. They were clearly understaffed, underpaid, and overworked — yet still doing everything they could to keep up. Honestly, they deserve a raise which I’m sure they won’t get.
As I’m waiting for my pizza I happen to glance through the window to the kitchen and see a sign posted in the back from management. It screamed things like “Absolutely NO phones, I’ll lock them up until end of shift” and “I’m not afraid to replace anyone.” It even listed reasons why employees should leave such as “if you don’t care or don’t want to be here” and “don’t want to do the work or do what you’re paid to do”. Instead of encouragement or support, it was pure threats and intimidation.
The food is good, but no slice of pizza is worth watching workers get burned out while management hides behind a whiteboard full of ultimatums. The people making the food are carrying this place on their backs, and it shows. Even with terrible management the workers were giving it their all with a restaurant full of hangry customers staring them down. The fact the pizza was good is honestly a testament to them not the culture set by management.
Until management figures out that a thriving restaurant requires more than fear tactics and skeleton crews, you should expect long waits, frazzled staff, and the uneasy feeling that your pizza came at the expense of people being run into the ground.
