Finally! A True “Blue Rare” Steak in Tucson + A Hidden BBQ Gem
If you are hunting for a serious steak in Tucson, look no further. I’ve been searching for a place in town that can properly execute a “Blue Rare” steak, and The Horseshoe Grill is the first and only spot to nail it. I ordered the Angus Ribeye with garlic mashed potatoes, and it was exceptional—perfectly seared on the outside, cool and rare in the center. Easily the best steak I’ve had in the city so far.
My wife went with the Burnt Ends Mac and Cheese, which was equally impressive. The flavor depth was amazing, and it’s definitely a comfort food standout. We capped off the meal with the peach cobbler, which was the perfect finish.
Service & Atmosphere:
Our waitress was attentive and friendly, handling our table well despite the restaurant having just changed their menu a week ago. The atmosphere is great, though be prepared for a bit of a wait to be served; it took longer than expected, but the food quality made up for it.
Constructive Feedback:
While the experience was fantastic, there was a slight disconnect between the bar inventory and the floor staff. We both requested Modelo Negra, but the kitchen was out of stock, and our server wasn’t aware until she tried to put the order in. A little tighter communication between management and the waitstaff on available items would make the service flawless.
Verdict:
Despite the minor hiccups with the wait time and beer availability, this was a top-tier dining experience. Highly recommended for the steak alone!

Service was very good. Half our party had the rib eye and said it was very good. I had the pulled pork and it could have had more flavor. My husband ordered the New York strip and said after that it was grisly and realized he probably got a rib eye by mistake.

Went here for the first time last Sunday to celebrate and spent big… three of the largest steaks, big appetizers, drinks… over $400 in around an hour. The food itself was fine, but halfway through dinner the temperature in the restaurant shot up so high we were literally sweating through our clothes. After having spent the day working outside, I couldn’t even finish eating, it was that miserable.
As we boxed up our meals and left, the lights dimmed right behind us for closing. It felt very intentional, like they cranked the heat just to force us out. After dropping that kind of money, being treated that way was insulting.
Never coming back.

I had a surprise party for my husband last night! It was the perfect atmosphere, very reasonably priced and sooo much fun!! The staff and Steve the manager are the sweetest most helpful people and nothing was too much to do and they made anything I wanted work! The theme of the party was western and the decor was perfect and everyone dressed cowboy and cowgirl!! It definitely will be remembered forever!!

Was underwhelmed with the food and cocktails. Potato skins were barely room temperature and cold in the cent er. Nothing special about the steaks, mesquite flavor was good but the steaks weren’t prepared to order and dry. I expected much better considering the prices for the food.

We ordered the platter but unfortunately they ran out of brisket which was disappointing. The waitress was amazing and went out of her way to find us some in the back. me and my wife thought the food was great. we will definitely come back in hopes they don’t run out of brisket again lol!

Party of 5 showed up about 11:50am. Restaurants looked empty, there were about 10 other customers in the restaurant. The hostess took about 3 minutes to come greet us and said she was going to push a couple of tables together for us. She then spent the next 6 or 7 minutes moving around the kitchen/prep area, making drinks, and talking to the cook. She never made any effort to move tables or seat us. We decided to leave after standing at the front door for around 10 minutes because It felt like they didn’t want to serve us lunch. 2 stars because the restaurant smelled good and I liked the saddles and blankets.

Lovely Tucson gem. This place has great drinks and great service. Perfect place to bring out of town guests with plenty of parking. Local spirits and beers available. Great bar area to catch up with friends for happy hour and a seating area separated by the kitchen for family meals.

We showed up for lunch around 1:30 on a Saturday and the place wasn’t very busy. We ordered the hot wings appetizer and the sampler platter. Everything was great except the meat that I think was smoked. The ribs and the pulled pork seemed like they have been cooking for a long time and were dry and burned. Our server, I think his name was Limmy, did a fantastic job. I want to like this place so I will give it another try. But I think I will order something that gets cooked fresh like a steak or hamburger.
