This is one of the well-known patisseries in the Mountain View area, and I stopped by this morning to grab a quick breakfast. The place was already bustling — full of people eating, chatting, and enjoying the cozy, welcoming space. It looked like a great spot to sit and spend some time, but I was in a hurry, so I ordered takeout instead.

They have an overwhelming selection of baked goods — truly paradise if you love pastries. There’s also a solid coffee menu, though I skipped coffee this time. I picked up a barbecue pork croissant, and it was honestly one of the best things I’ve eaten recently. The pastry was perfectly flaky and crunchy, and the filling was a finely prepared, mildly spiced barbecue pork — not too spicy, but incredibly flavorful and well-balanced.

I also tried a pastry called Harmony, made with high-quality chocolate. The sweetness was very restrained, allowing the chocolate flavor to really shine, with a pleasant crunchy layer inside. It felt like a proper indulgence.

While I was waiting for my order, one of the bakers even offered me a macaron to taste , a raspberry or strawberry flavor , and it was excellent as well.

They have so many other baked items that I’ll definitely be back, either for a proper brunch or to take home more pastries. Highly recommended if you’re in the area and love good bakeries.

Lovely spot. Lots of delicious, unique pastries to choose from. We got breakfasts sandwiches that were also delicious, I had the salmon avocado toast and my husband had the ham and cheese croissant. He didnt love his coffee. I did like my matcha and the apple croissant. Friendly staff and nice seating area.

Alexander’s Patisserie: The Only Cake Shop That Matters (A Millennial Confession)

Listen up, Bay Area dessert hunters. Stop scrolling, because I’ve found the promised land, and it’s right in Downtown Mountain View.

I’ve been on an intense, multi-week birthday cake tasting journey, and the results are in: Alexander’s Patisserie is the main character of the pastry scene. Seriously, choosing a flavor here is a legitimate, first-world problem because every single cake is uniquely mind-blowing. I’m talking about a level of finesse and flavor balance that just doesn’t exist elsewhere.

I’ve done the homework–I’ve tried the highly-rated spots across South Bay, East Bay, the Peninsula, and even trekked into SF. Yet, every time, I found myself pulled back to Alexander’s like a moth to a delicious, perfectly baked flame.

My biggest revelation? The Harmony cake. I am not a chocolate person (I skip the ooey-gooey desserts, thanks), but this cake has officially put me in a chokehold. The mouthwatering yumminess they’ve created is absolutely unreplicated by any other bakery, especially thanks to that incredible extra crunch that delivers a textured “oomph”–it’s pure genius. If this cake is wrong, I don’t want to be right. It is a masterpiece.

It’s not just the cakes, though. The entire patisserie selection is slaying:
* Pastries: Their croissants are buttery, flaky, and know what they are doing. Perfect mid-week treat fuel.
* The Honey-Lavender Latte: This is pure liquid self-care. It’s delicious, aromatic, and the perfect accessory while you contemplate which cake will change your life next.

The Verdict? If you’re looking for a dessert that’s an actual indulgence, or a special occasion centerpiece that will make every guest swoon, make the drive. Even if you’re not a local, trust me, the pilgrimage to Mountain View is 100% worth the gas money and the traffic. This place is a non-negotiable must-try. Go. Now.

Lovely place to get pastries and crossaints on castro street. Tried their pistachio and matcha crossaints. Now i like the taste of matcha so i loved the matcha crossaint, but i can understand its not for everyone. They fill the crossaint with matcha cream to order, so the crossaint remains flaky. Also loved their holiday themed pastries. Will definitely come back for more

Very fancy patisserie. We tried Maison Alyzee across the street before, nd now we came to try out their direct competitor. I would say both have their own strengths.

The pastries here are also so good. They were not only eye candy but also very delicious we ordered Eclairs and Tiramisu! Both were really tasty.

They also offer single purchase or in boxes for the chocolate. I got one for my son, but he was so quick in eating it that I couldn’t take a picture

Upscale cafe with artful pastries. I recommend eating at the cafe; a takeaway sandwich will be cold and disappointing but a warm sandwich, drink, and desert feel perfect. Tarts and small cakes are $12 and up.

My husband picked up a box of chocolates along with some pastries. I’ve had both good and less positive experiences here in the past, so I’ve continued to give the shop another chance. The pecan tart is consistently very good, and that’s something I genuinely enjoy from here. However, the chocolates were disappointing. Several pieces had cracks along the seam, and a few had a thick chocolate joining layer inside where the two halves were sealed, which made the texture uneven. The flavors also tasted quite similar, without the distinct profiles you would expect. Considering the price, the quality was not where it should be. I hope the consistency improves, because the presentation is lovely and the shop is capable of better.

hidden gem in downtown mountain view with beautiful, delicate desserts. i got the pistachio layered pastry and it was divine — rich, not too sweet, and full of texture. staff were really kind and helpful, especially with explaining the different pastries. the space feels elegant but relaxed, like a little escape from the busy street. perfect for a treat-yourself moment or an afternoon coffee break.
