Authentic Mexican Cuisine in Buda, TX: Garcias
Reviews
I spoke with Esmeralda, who claimed to be the manager, and she told me this location is owned by a different family member and therefore “does things differently.” I explained to her that the sign outside still says Garcias Mexican, and as a customer, I expect the same quality and consistency at any location under that name. That’s part of what builds trust with a brand. Her response didn’t address the issue — and honestly, it made the experience even more frustrating.
I’ve been a customer of Garcias for years and have always associated the name with good food and consistency. This visit did not reflect that standard. If this location is going to operate differently, customers deserve to know upfront — or better yet, they should raise their quality to match the reputation that the Garcias name is known for.
The total was $20
This is the amount of cheese that was on each taco that i paid $1.50ea for.
Do better guys!

Returned today, 8/10/25, to Garcia’s in Buda after a long wait. The restaurant closed its doors in May/June of 2024 and began working on a remodeling effort on the inside.
We arrived, luckily, before mid-morning breakfast rush and was greeted by Malea (sp). She added our name to the waiting list, and advised they had been open about 3 weeks.
We were seated within 20 minutes, and greeted by our server, Darlene (aka Dar), who took our drink orders and gave us a few minutes to review the menu.
Our orders wereba migas taco with ham added, 2 migas plates (I ordered mine spicy), and a pork chop plate. We asked for flour tortillas. The food took about 15-20 or possibly 15 minutes to prep. This wasn’t an issue as it gave us time to catch up with our guests, and the staff was very good about keeping us stocked with chips and salsa. I asked Dar for some spicier salsa, and she brought the green salsa made with Serrano peppers. It was flavorful and definitely a notch hotter.
Our food arrived and it was all good, and like I remembered. If there was was thing I would encourage the kitchen, it would be to increase the portion of the migas. This being said, my and our guests plates were clean.
I do like the new look, it is much more open and has an airy feeling.
I hope your experience, should you decide to visit, is as good or better than mine.

We were in the Buda area again today and decided to follow up and eat Garcia’s for a late lunch, early dinner. There were 8 in our party and it was busy. So we had a little bit of a wait, about 45 minutes.
Once seated, we were quickly attended to, and our server was Chelsea. She took very good care of us. If there is one thing I can say about Garcia’s, their service is fantastic. While I’ve only been twice, I can not say enough about it. The staff is professional, courteous, and service oriented. They will try to find ways to make your experience the best possible.
I’ve captured some photos of our dishes. All of them were very good, and the serving sizes were appropriate. The dishes ranged from enchiladas (cheese, beef, and chicken), Garcia’s Delux, steak quesadillas, and some others that I do not recall.
Finally, we all found their chips and salas refreshing. Ask for the green salsa if you want it hotter.
As with my summary below, I hope your experience is as good as ours.

I was in the Buda area looking for a place to have a Mexican breakfast. I always look for family owned restaurants so I can support the local community.
I found this place in downtown Buda and was not disappointed. We were quickly greeted, seated, and our drink orders were taken. We asked for menus so we could review our choices.
We opted for some chips and salsa to start. Quick note, the red salsa is mild. If you like the heat, request the green salsa.
I ordered the migas plate, and my wife ordered breakfast tacos. Both were very good. Note, if you like cheese on your migas, you should ask for that at your time of order.
See my parking comments for awareness. We visited on a Sunday morning at about 8:30 am.
Overall, I really enjoyed the visit, food, and atmosphere, and I will definitely be back. I hope, if you visit, your experience is as good as mine.
The Food Menu is 5 star
The bar, however, was a disappointment on Sat Aug 17 and earns only 3 stars.
The bar menu advertises a top-shelf margarita for $14.95. Fair enough, i typically purchase three, But Saturday when I requested the margarita with Lalo tequila — which is unquestionably top shelf — the server Lupita had to check if it was even allowed. She returned saying yes, but the drink would be $24.95 because their so-called “top-shelf” margarita is made with Hornitos & they would charge extra for the Lalo. That “Top Shelf” on the bar menu is kinda misleading .
I settled for their frozen top-shelf margarita, and it was undrinkable because it had too much syrup in the mix. For a place with such excellent food, the bar program feels like an afterthought.
Bottom line: I will continue coming here for the food but I won’t be coming here for drinks. The silver lining is i saved roughly $60 on drinks i did not have.
