Excellent food & service, but skip the add-ons

I’ve been to Frevo a few times now, and it consistently delivers very good, beautifully presented food with impeccable service. Entering through an art gallery sets a unique, intimate tone for the whole experience, and it’s one of the touches that makes Frevo feel special.

The cooking was excellent across the board: the fish was perfectly prepared, and the beef was spot-on. Their signature transition course — a 36-month Comté served over a scoop of honey ice cream — is an unusual pairing that works incredibly well. Dessert was also outstanding: a chocolate cake with wasabi ice cream that was both creative and delicious.

Their wine selection is strong and fairly priced, especially considering this is a Michelin-starred restaurant.

My only real complaint is the upselling of additional dishes. This time, for the first time, I tried one of their extra options — a scallop dish with white truffle. Not only was it extremely expensive (about a third of the full menu price), but it was also underwhelming, with a sauce that overshadowed both the scallop and the truffle. My friend added uni to one of his dishes for a similarly steep markup and felt the same way. In past visits, skipping these add-ons actually led to a better overall experience.
This is usually a 5 stars for me, but only got 4 stars this time. I would still go back, but will definitely skip the add-ons next time.

Frevo is a full-on experience. Came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday and everything—from the service to the food—was flawless. We even got to meet the chef, which made the night feel extra special. Every course was wildly creative, with flavors I honestly didn’t know were possible. Thoughtful, bold, and beautifully executed dishes from start to finish. This is the kind of place that reminds you why NYC dining is unmatched. Absolute must for food lovers

Frevo is a fun, unique spot tucked inside a gallery that almost feels like a speakeasy.

Starting with the highlights: the ambience, the energy of the staff, and the service were all 10/10. The space is artsy, modern, and genuinely enjoyable to spend an evening in.

The dinner began on a strong note—the first two dishes were especially tasty—but the rest of the tasting course didn’t resonate with me as much, with a few items feeling a bit salty or less memorable. That said, I’m definitely open to returning when the menu changes. For now, I’d give this experience a solid 4.2/5.

Frevo NYC is, without question, one of the most exceptional dining experiences in the city. What amazes me every time is how they constantly tweak and evolve the menu yet somehow everything remains flawless. Every dish feels like a new discovery, but with the same depth of flavor and precision that makes Frevo truly world-class.

The service is impeccable from start to finish. Attentive without hovering, warm without being overfamiliar exactly what you expect from a Michelin-star restaurant, but executed even better.

And the food… honestly, it’s the best I’ve had in NYC. I’ve been to countless Michelin-starred spots across the city, but nothing compares to the creativity, balance, and sheer deliciousness that Frevo delivers consistently.

The ambience ties it all together sexy, intimate, romantic yet never stuffy or pretentious. It feels special without trying too hard.

If you’re looking for the perfect blend of flawless cuisine, top-tier service, and a beautifully curated atmosphere, Frevo is in a league of its own. Highly recommended.

Of all the amazing tasting-menu restaurants in NYC, Frevo is the one I keep finding myself coming back to again and again. As soon as you enter the art gallery vestibule that hides this speakeasy-style restaurant, you know you’re in for a special and unique dining experience.

The creativity of the courses here are unmatched by anyone, short of Atomix. Every dish I’ve ever had at Frevo is beautiful, surprising, and (most importantly) delicious.

The friendliness and attentiveness of the staff is also a standout of Frevo. Another reason I keep coming back is because of them. Special shoutout to Quentin!

Frevo is the kind of place where you know it will be a homerun every time you visit. And its cool ambiance and creative style will make you want to bring a friend to impress.

Would highly recommend a visit!

An unforgettable dining experience at FREVO!

This place may look like an art gallery at first, but behind the curtain is one of the best Michelin-starred dining experiences I’ve ever had. I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday here with a close friend, and everything — from the atmosphere to the service — was exceptional.

The wine pairing was perfectly balanced — a true tasting that complemented each dish without being overwhelming. My favorite course was the carrot dish with red curry, multiple textures of carrot, and almond ice cream. Yes, almond ice cream — and it completely worked!

We even got to meet the head chef, who was incredibly gracious and took time out of his busy night to chat with us and take a photo. The staff made the night feel personal and special from start to finish.

FREVO absolutely deserves its Michelin star — and more. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for an intimate, beautifully curated dining experience in NYC.

Frevo was top-notch. The food hit all three of my Michelin restaurant requirements: edibility, creativity, amazing service, and great ambiance. The food was tasty, yet interesting And the bar seating was very nice since you could see how the chefs were cooking in real-time! I highly recommend and look forward to going against sometime.

The price was expensive…far more than $100 a person, especially with a wine pairing. The food rotates by season. And it’s not too fancy that you need a sports coat.

This was hands-down one of the best meals I’ve had. The consistency and intention of detail sang through ingredient placement selection. The service is impeccable. Chef Franco‘s identity sings in each of the plates throughout the experience. The amberjack is phenomenal, exquisitely fresh and accentuated with a delicate, yet assertive emulsion that makes the fish shine. The Wagyu course and squab are also highly notable as well. The Kyoto carrot and Thai curry almond icecream was amazing. The Kyoto Prawn with kambu oil and Beurre blanc sauce was also highly notable dish. The preparation on the prawn allowed it to be the perfect sashimi texture paired eloquently with sauce.

Quentin the sommelier pairs each course beautifully with wine that elevates the tasting experience and expands your pallet. Each glass was some of the best wine I’ve had in my life, especially the skin contact and red wine later on in the taste experience.

There is a inviting, joyous, atmosphere in the dining space that allows guests to really unwind and focus on the amazing experience of eating. The head Chefs are always present and their charisma and character give the dining room a personality that you’ll be looking forward to come back to.

Lastly, I want to mention dessert, honeycomb vanilla ice cream and 36 month age comté cheese. Paired with a effervescent pear cider The was one of the most insane and delicious flavor combinations I’ve had in my life. The second dessert that I found exceptional was the wasabi porcini chocolate moose. I’ve never had the combination of dark chocolate, wasabi, and porcini. But this perfectly balanced dessert, expand in my definition of savory and sweet while leaving the slightest inkling of heat after the dark chocolate note.

I cannot recommend this experience enough. It is amazing way to experience the totality of ingredients orchestrated with thoughtfulness, technical execution, and flawless timing. The service staff was incredible, making the experience flow and treating us like honored guests. I can’t wait to go back and try the new seasonal menu!

Frevo is magic. Period.
Hidden behind an art gallery, the experience already special before you even sit down. Counter seating makes everything intimate and focused.
Chef’s precision, timing, flavors… everything is on point. Dishes are creative but never confusing. Each course makes sense, emotionally and technically.
Staff is incredibly polished but warm, explains with passion, not script.
正直、今のNYで一番「完成度高い」と思った。
Frevo is not just dinner, it’s performance, art, and memory together.

Frevo is a quiet revelation tucked behind an unassuming door. The tasting menu is precise yet soulful, each course unfolding with confidence and restraint, while the open kitchen hums in the background. Service feels intuitive, never hovering, and the wine pairings are out of this world. An intimate, artful experience that is not to be missed!
