We dined here recently on a Saturday night. The food presentation and wine service were great. The oysters had been just flown in the previous day and were as fresh and chilled as can be, a 10/10. The rest of our meal was okay. We started with New England clam chowder but it had Spanish chorizo (or some kind of pork-based product) in it, which was tasty but definitely not New England style. My husband had the halibut, and it was beautifully cooked and dressed with a dollop of caviar on top. I had the “clams casino”, which was a actually a linguine dish with a VERY thick/heavy cream based sauce, and literally just three clams on top. So mixed reviews here. However, the ambiance was phenomenal (we sat on the outdoor terrace that overlooks the Riverwalk and allows for excellent people-watching). The absolute best part, however, was the service. Our server (I believe his name was Nicholas) was so perfect in his approach. We didn’t feel rushed (yet never forgotten about), and he was attentive and knowledgeable (without constantly interrupting us to check on the table like other restaurants do). Thanks to his approach we were able to really enjoy the pace of our meal and the vibrant ambiance the restaurant and the Riverwalk provide. At one point, the restaurant manager also stopped by to solicit our feedback and make sure we were pleased. Overall a very enjoyable experience despite a miss or two on the menu items. Would definitely return and recommend.

What an incredible dining experience at Ostra Restaurant on the Riverwalk! From the moment we were seated, the service was truly exceptional thanks to Nick, who went above and beyond to take care of us. He was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making sure we enjoyed our meal. His recommendations were spot-on, and he really epitomized what great customer service should be.
We decided to try the Surf and Turf Burger because it sounded unique—and it absolutely delivered. Perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The clam chowder was honestly the best I’ve ever had—rich, creamy, and loaded with fresh clams. We also ordered the clams casino, which was just as impressive.
If you’re ever in San Antonio, you have to stop by. Between the amazing food, the gorgeous Riverwalk setting, and outstanding service from Nick, this place is a must-visit. I’ll definitely be back! Did I say Nick was the best.

My wife enjoyed her halibut and cocktails. The redfish was nicely cooked and well accompanied. Service from Peter was amazing. He is definately a great asset to the restaurant. We witnessed him taking care of the patio, bar, a group of 10ish all whilst providing great service to us. Will definately be coming back. Only thing I can say is that the risotto lacked seasoning and was slightly overcooked. Other than that, all good. Thanks!

Our waiter Peter, was excellent—friendly, attentive, and very professional. He made sure our drinks stayed full and checked on us at the perfect times without being intrusive. He had great recommendations and made the dinning experience worth while.

It was a Christmas day and we were looking for restaurants that were open and they were. We called ahead of time just to see if there were open seats available. We were not given an oyster menu, but we did ask the waitress and she was able to tell us they had, thus we ordered them and they were good. The food was delicious and so were the wine. Staff are so courteous and very hospitable.

One of the best restaurants on the Riverwalk. Elegant, reserved, outstanding service (thank you Jarvis & Rasheda), 5 stars all the way. We enjoyed breakfast so much we came back for a latte after waking the River. ☕️ I can’t recommend Ostra highly enough.

Amazing food, staff, vibe.
Dimly lit and beautifully settled along the Riverwalk. Our waiter made date night an exceptional experience.
The chowder was outstanding.
And the scallops were exceptional.
The drinks were sheer perfection.
More places should have this level of excellence.

Don’t miss this gem amongst meh tourist TexMex. Local here for over 15 years. There’s plenty of Average TexMex on the river walk. If you’re looking for a BIG step up, don’t overlook this place. I’ve done both a working lunch outside on the river and a date night evening before show. Both times both the service and food were top notch. Most recently, Genaro guided us through a great diner experience. Tuna tartare to start was excellent. The clam chowder had its own take but was excellent with both the bacon and potatoes perfectly cooked (I’m from NE and this is always the failure point). The main scallop dish was also wonderful. Cocktails were high end with perfect clear cubes and flavors meant for you to notice. A place I’d revisit just for a drink before a show but worth a full evening as well. We’ll be back.

This review is specifically for the Sunday brunch. It was excellent!
I have a gluten allergy and I did well here. The menu is marked but they can also double check other items in the menu if needed. I had a breakfast bowl and an iced coffee. We sat inside near a window with a lovely view of the river walk but also able to enjoy the AC on a hot morning.
The food was tasty and the prices were fair. The service was superb! I think it’s appropriate for all ages.
I recommend brunch here.
