Stopped for lunch on the road back to Houston. Very good Q. I had the turkey and ribs. Great old original BBQ atmosphere. Everyone was friendly and welcoming including service and customers. And very clean. Including the bathrooms. Highly recommend.

This place is 2 stars at best. I’m guessing it survives because nothing else is around. We stopped by because it had such great reviews, but sadly became disappointed very quickly. Let me start by saying eating at these “hole in the wall” places are one of my fav things to do. So automatically no judgment because I know these places can have the absolute BEST food. We walk in, head straight to the counter, it’s small, but def has seating space. The cashier was just not interested in giving any details. I asked what she recommended since we’ve never been and wanted to try, she just waved her hand over the board, and read a few things off the board, no opinion, no “recommendation “ just read a few things. Ok, that’s fine, I’ll play it safe, grabbed a lb of brisket, chopped beef sandwich, kids meal. Let me say, it was INEXPENSIVE, so that was a nice surprise because in this economy, who likes to waste money on food you don’t love. It was about 50 bucks. An older lady had popped in right after us, to which the cashier just waved off to another employee, very rudely. Customer Service, or manners are clearly not here at this point, And it’s obvious. I take my ticket, grab my cup, go to the beverage area. It’s dirty, needs a good WIPE DOWN, again, trying not to judge, I go for the tea, very wearily. I’m a southern girl and LOVE my tea, surprisingly, it was good!! Still could use a good wipe down, the spigots were def dirty. We wait a good 15 minutes, no worries, we’re patient. Get called, grab food, head to car. Pass out food, it’s decent at best. Again, glad this wasn’t 80-100 dollars because I would’ve been so sad. The potatoe salad has all the skin, isn’t mashed at all, and no seasoning. Tried 2 bites. The brisket was ok, it was semi warm, but dry, and again, no seasoning the kids meal actually looked the best. Over all, def won’t return, but was worth a try just to know, we tried it.

Incredible brisket, but bring your patience (and a snack for the wait)
We’d heard the buzz about this BBQ spot – especially the melt-in-your-mouth brisket, and the reviews weren’t lying about the flavor. The brisket is tender, smoky, and absolutely delicious.
We also knew going in that the space was small, but we were fine with that and even snagged a table right away. What we didn’t expect was to wait 25 minutes for two small brisket sandwiches. The portion size was underwhelming, especially for the wait time.
The dining experience felt a bit chaotic. Orders didn’t seem to come out in the order they were placed; people who arrived after us got their food, ate, and left before we were served. The kitchen looked overwhelmed, with tickets stacking up fast.
Bottom line: The brisket is worth tasting at least once – it’s that good.
If you’re short on time or hungry for a hearty portion, you may want to take a pass on this one.
– UPDATE –
I just read this to my wife. She added – A top bun should not touch the bottom bun on a BBQ sandwich.
Just look at my picture – the brisket is hidden by bread

Disappointing. Been going here for decades, but it’s changed recently. Food is tasty, but portions are (now) tiny and price is high. I’ve never left hungry until last week. I understand beef prices are crazy but pork, chicken, sausage, beans and coleslaw aren’t. The meat portions are small, even for non-beef entrees. The sides used to be served in small bowls and in good quantity, but are now served in little rimmed saucers in tiny servings. Don’t go if you’re hungry.

Love this place. This time stopped with wife and 2 and 5yo kids on our way from Corpus to Houston. Chill environment and great food. My daughter asked if we could go back there for dinner tonight.

So different from the old location. It’s pretty worn-looking from the outside. The inside is … unpretentious.
I gave the rating only for the stuffed baked potato with turkey as I didn’t eat anything else. It was served with bbq sauce on the side and it was delicious! I was able to get two meals from it.

Typical Texas bbq, small dining room, dine in, take-out, drive through . We like the meats, but the sides complete the meal. Texas home cooking BBQ experience. Whenever we drive close we always plan to visit.

It was my first time going and last. The food wasn’t great the ribs were very hard, burned, the brisket too lean made it dry, mustard greens tasted like frozen greens, but the Mac and cheese was really good. Very disappointed with my food traveled to come here.

Very popular with the locals at lunchtime, always a good sign. I got the sliced beef sandwich, fries, and a drink…everything ala carte…total about $14. I used to think that was pricey but that’s the world we live in these days. It was delicious and portions were ample. I thought maybe the fries were a bit small at first but the sandwich is big enough that the fries were right. The staff was friendly and the crowd filled the place, although I had no trouble finding a table for one. It’s very small town-y, in a good way. Unpretentious. I was just passing through but if I lived nearby it would be a favorite place.

This family run restaurant serves the best food. It is just a small building with a drive up and only a few tables to sit, seat yourself after ordering, but it moves food fast! I counted 7 cooks in the small kitchen, moving in determined directions. my wife and I had the huge stuffed baked potato, stuffed with barbequed brisket. The thing was huge, and so delicious. Wife ordered the pecan pie. What can I say, this is TEXAS. My daughter ordered the lemon merangue pie. Super. The prices are reasonable and the people are friendly. I highly recommend it for barbeque.
