MCL is a great place for comfort food. The pecan-encrusted whitefish was excellent, hot and perfectly crispy. The roast beef was very good, but a bit fatty. Our table was visited three times to ensure that we were enjoying the meal. It’s not a gourmet restaurant and a bit pricey (for what it is), but the attentive service and kind hospitality make MCL a favorite.

I loved the food there and the service was great too! I had roast beef with a side of mac and cheese. My husband had the beef Manhattan. Both delicious. We tried the cinnamon bread but I preferred the simple white bread. For dessert the spice cake was moist and so tasty and the sugar cream pie was also excellent! Highly recommended

MCL continues to be one of our favorites. Me and the wife try to eat here at least once a month. The food is always very good And the service is excellent as well. Clean, tidy and good service what more can you ask for. Have had many meals here but last time I had smoked sausage and sauerkraut, the wife had liver and onions. We haven’t been here in months, I was so happy to return. Today I decided on fish, corn and Lima beans with stir fried rice. Quite good despite the fact the fish could have been hotter. And of corse the boss (wife) had her personal favorite the Thursday Special “liver and onions” with your choice of two sides. She chose green beans and corn with Lima beans. Cafeteria style dining with plenty of seats to choose from and a few booths. Please put this place on your list, not extremely expensive and always good food with great service. Senior discount at 2pm. all you can eat fish on Fridays COMING SOON!

I always have a great experience at the MCL Cafeteria in Castleton! I recently ordered a Cobb salad that was incredibly fresh, generous, and absolutely delicious. Carmelita at the salad station is truly wonderful — she’s so kind and welcoming, and I seek her out every time I visit because she always makes the experience even better.
The food here has that comforting, home-style quality that’s hard to find these days. Prices have gone up a bit like everywhere else, but the quality and portions still make it worth every penny. The assistant manager tonight simply was unbelievably rude over a request for a fresh roll. I manage to overlook his shortcomings then was confronted by a teenager taking my money which is right at $100 each week, when requesting a receipt from her she sarcastically spoke, I ask you once and you said nothing! I eventually received a receipt. My wife and Ivwife my parents said nothing but honestly destroyed the evening and probably the return of our family.

Thru the sea of white haired customers, you find people enjoying their meal. Families celebrate with their elderly family members but I like to go there because it reminds me when my mom used to bring me to a cafeteria as a kid. Love the American home cooking it offers. Look currently they have all you can eat catfish night every Friday under $10.00. Comes with 2 sides and bread. Great deal. Btw. Mark was great!

I’m giving this place five stars because I think it’s probably underrated first off. This establishment/restaurant Chain has been around For years. I have memories of this place from when I was a kid and it was one of the first buffet style/layout type of restaurant where you can pick what you want that I had experienced. It’s so nice to see that it has survived the test of time! When I visit, I am always treated respectfully.

Me not mcl had the absolute worst day yesterday (me problem not mcl) and I was about a hour and a half late picking up my order. This man was not only nice about it and let me know he tried to call me but also gave us not only fresh mac and cheese but for some reason that mac and cheese you gave me last night OH MY GEEEEE hands down the best. I don’t know if it was the flavors settling in on the drive home. But me and my 3 guests were making noises with out mouth while eating that probably was best not in your restaurant. Needless to say THAT MAC AND CHEESE WAS DA BOMB!!!

This is by far the best of the MCL locations when it comes to the food. Cafeteria with wide variety of salads, entrees, vegetables, breads, and desserts. Servers happily bring iced tea and coffee refills. It’s nice having food options other than the typical “meat and some form of potato” such as is true at many restaurants. Will return.
