I’ve been here several times and the quality of the food has significantly decreased. I was there today to pick up my large phone order of pupusas (cheese, bean, loroco) for a birthday party. It was so disappointing and embarrassing with my guests to have served such a distasteful meal. The pupusas were dry, and basically tasted like eating tortillas and beans. When I called the restaurant owner her response was that she had not received any other complaints and simply denied that her cooks would skimp out on the cheese and loroco. I even sent the attached photos to the owner as proof of what I was served. I do not recommend this place.

Family has been coming here since there old location. When other family is in town we come here, when there’s cravings, I’ve had from Canadian and other races come to know a new love of food. The ladies serving are amazing and always have been! I don’t play when it comes to food. This is what I was raised on!

Came in to place a to go order. Food was good, customer service could have been better. The cashier was really nice to the attractive man who came in after me. She was dry and in dismissive towards me. Wish I was an attractive man so that I too could have gotten the best service possible.

I was staying at Banner University (right down the street) and had someone bring me some sopa de res from this place. IT TASTED LIKE HOME . It had yuca, calabasin, chayote, carrot, and two big pieces of bone with beef on them. The beef was so flavorful and tender. But the broth! For me, soup is all about the bone broth when you’re sick. It was delicious and I could see the little droplets of collagen on the top… I’m in love. It hasn’t been easy for me to find a nutrient filled real bone broth soup in Phoenix. Often it’s like chicken stock with bouillon. Or some gross chicken noodle soup thickened by guar gum or xanthan gum (hello Panera and CFA). Or at a Mexican restaurant, the caldo is red which usually indicates chili powder of some sort was added which you don’t want if your gut is inflamed, although normally I love that. If your loved one is staying at Banner H hospital, stop in and check this place out for something simple and humble that tastes like good home cooking. You get really two bowls of soup out of the order and it comes with homemade tortillas. Can’t wait to go eat here soon, their fried plantain looks perfect.

This place is a hidden gem. If you love popusas as much as my wife does this is your new home. Don’t let that hold you back from exploring the rest of the menu. I got the chorizo with the beans and crema. It also comes with a couple of grilled plantains. My wife ordered the popusas rebueltas which were amazing. We have been coming back for almost 5 years and we will continue to be blessed by this precious place.

We had been looking for a good place for pupusas and we found one! The plantain, black beans and cream is also a must! Everything we had was so tasty! We took home their breads – pudding and quesadilla (not the Mexican kind). They were so good and authentic! My husband who grew up eating this type of food in Guatemala said it was just like home. We went back twice in our short visit to Phoenix.

Honestly…being from Atlanta we have amazing food choices from many different cultures, but after having lunch at this Salvadorian restaurant, I think I have been missing out on everything. It was so good y’all that I could have licked the plate clean, and really wanted to. And please know I am pretty hard to impress when it comes to food. What a gem of a place. Phoenix, you are so lucky to have this place as a choice. Don’t walk…run here!!

Today 12/1/23 grabbed lunch and I don’t know what changed, new cook/manager/ holiday spirit but everything was fantastic. Empanadas were just perfect. Keep it up.

Just picked up from this restaurant for the first time 10/18/20. This is now my #1 salvadorian restaurant in phoenix. Food is delicious, pupusas are the best in town, empanadas are amazing, nuegados are tasty(not for everyone) and the quesadilla is delicious. Every time I’m near guanaquito, I may need to order.
This place would earn 5 stars if they had more efficient service. Customer service is very polite. However, I can see customers getting upset for long waiting times. I think their problem is from lack of a computer system for ordering and lack of communication with the kitchen.

But I do want to thank you for the delicious meal I was able to enjoy today.

I revisited the location on 3-6-21 and still impressed. Best pupusas in arizona that I have had.

On august 21 2022, I finally decided to dine in and as always the food is on point. If this restaurant fails it will be because of the lack of restaurant experience the owners have. They need to have a better system for the restaurant. Especially since they’re heavily understaffed. They need to have a hostess, bussers and a pos system. Taking orders by hand is pointless with all the technology we have in society. Please don’t change the way you make food, just help the staff have the right equipment to function efficiently. Also upgrade your Air conditioning. Thank you for the great food. Best Salvadorian food in the valley.
