West Tennessee’s legendary whole-hog BBQ tradition is the cornerstone of Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint. Pat Martin learned the art and craft of West Tennessee-style smoke and meat 25 years ago in the tiny town of Henderson, TN before making Nashville his home. It became a consuming passion that eventually led to a business when he opened the first Martin’s Bar-B-Que Joint in October of 2006 in Nolensville, Tennessee – just south of Nashville. We come in at 5 am, every day, seven days a week. From the sides to the sauces, everything is made from scratch every single day – You’ll never find a freezer or microwave in our kitchens. But the bar-b-que actually starts a day ahead, as the process for smoking whole hogs simply can’t be rushed.

1st visit & we loved it! Had never heard of this restaurant & my mother-in-law today us to join her for lunch. I ordered the Big Brother Sampler which consists of 2 big portions of meats & 2 sides. This is definitely a meal for 2 people, but I have leftovers to treat myself later. Brisket was the most tender that I’ve had from a restaurant. Ribs were so tender that it drooped over when holding it. We got an order of smoked wings & they were great. I wish that the meats had a little more seasoning on them. Fries were very delicious & appreciate the fact that they are made from scratch. Baked beans ….I didn’t see a Google review about them, but let me tell you now….they were perfect! Smokey, sweet, & peppery with chunks of brisket. We will definitely glue back again for another visit to try other items.

Super friendly staff very family friendly. These people know how to make some barbecue do wish they had real butter. They’ve got liquid butter alternative, which is probably some kind of nasty seed oil crap but the brisket was spectacular and I will definitely be back.

Great local barbecue institution! Big portions of smoked meat and sweet or savory sides. Good range of local beer styles. Plenty of indoor and patio space. Two parking lots accessible from adjoining streets.

Delicious bbq at a reasonable price. Good selection of draft beers. Had the smoked chicken quarter with broccoli salad and a cornbread hoecake. Will definitely come back and try the rest of the meats – pork, beef, sausage and ribs – as well as some of the other beers on tap.

First time to Martins! It was good but needed to ask for a different barbecue sauce. The vinegar based one on the tables was not my favorite. Brisket tacos were great as was the pork. The turkey and chicken were good. Hush puppies were a little gritty! We didn’t try the pie which is unusual for me but will next time.

Best BBQ in Birmingham! We were delighted to find Martin’s in the area. Having lived in Middle TN for many years, we were missing Martin’s great food. When we stumbled across this location, we were so excited! The food is fantastic, fresh and portions are plentiful. Our favorites are ribs, chicken and bbq pulled pork sandwiches.

It was a very lively place. The staff was super nice and helpful. We had one of the guys always checking on us to make sure we had what we needed. They went above and beyond. Now the food. We got the ribs, hoecakes, Mac n Cheese, Fries, potato salad, and homemade chips. The ribs were freaking amazing!!!! They were falling off the bone and the sauce was so very good!!! We got them half and half and I definitely would recommend to get them with sauce. The dry rub was good too, just not as good as the wet ribs! The hoecake was pretty good too. Nice and Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Mac n Cheese was alright, not the best side on the menu. The fries were homemade with real potatoes not frozen. And they were epic!!! Seasoned very well. The best side on the menu that we tried!!! Highly recommend the fries. The potato salad was pretty good too. The homemade chips were good and seasoned nicely. The parking lot did fill up pretty fast but there was still plenty of seating inside. One of the best BBQ places I have ever ate at!

Ribs were good but way over dry spiced. Potato salad was too sweet. Macaroni and cheese was good. Brisket sandwich was good but would have benefited from more brisket. Hamburger with pimento cheese- pass on this, I couldn’t even taste the pimento cheeses. The bread was perfectly toasted though. Broccoli salad was good but too much sweet dressing- very similar to a watered down Thousand Island dressing.

We heard about this place and had to try it. I had the 4 bone spare ribs with fried and broccoli salad. It was delicious. Wife had a smoke turkey sandwich and mac and cheese. The atmosphere was relaxed. Workers were very polite. Prices of the food is reasonable. Red sauce, white sauces, and vinegar base sauce in the table. They do have a To-Go bar also.

Stopped here by chance, looking for a quick lunch. Very fast service, decent food snd sweet tea. Love the open air atmosphere of the restaurant. Parking can be a bit intimidating however. I tried the brisket which was tender and also the Mac and cheese.
