Worse than grocery sushi.. The rice texture was hard and too sweet/sour which overcomes the fish. Unagi was old and dry and other raw fish was mid..
I would never go back.
Spicy salmon sashimi was aight, it was a bit too sweet for me tho.

Well… Sushi Town used to be our family’s favorite place to order sushi.
However, we had a serious issue with our food today. One of our orders, Salmon Nigiri, had a metal nail inside. We are not sure whether it was inside the rice or the salmon itself. My mother felt something hard and metallic in her mouth and spit it out.
Luckily, no one was injured, but we are extremely disappointed with Sushi Town’s food safety. If the nail was inside the rice, that means the rice may have been cooked with a nail in it, which is very concerning.
I checked their reviews afterward, and most of the recent ones are very negative.
Now I understand why.

The food was really good. Ordered tempura prawns, and they were so crispy. Yumm Sunamomo salad came with 3 prawns. I liked that. The Neguri was good. Also had the Ton Khatsu, and it was crispy and juicy. So good. Didn’t care for the sauce, tho. Tried the teriyaki sauce, and it was just ok, in my opinion.

absolute garbage customer service here. this place used to be good but it has gone downhill since. rude staff that ignores requests for simple stuff like tea and napkins. we also had no soy sauce at our table which we tried notifying staff but they were nowhere to be found. there is only one korean looking girl working both the front and serving food as well as doing takeout orders. she is super rude for brushing off requests like she didn’t hear it after telling her repeatedly. food portions are tiny and the mentaiko cream udon is so watery and bland. the sashimi now is super thin for the price point. when asking for more tea, she brought us a large jug of tap water. there is garbage left on the table and we had to tell them repeatedly to remove it off the table… this is unacceptable for any restaurant. she needs to be trained again or fired immediately because this is not a good look for the business.

I have been ordering take out from Sushi Town for many years, and recently the attention to detail and efficiency has really become very bad. In the last couple of months, 3 of our orders were very late, and 2 of them had missing items. This is really beyond frustrating when you take your order home just to find out something you paid for is not there. Last time, they called after I had left to let me know a bunch of rolls were missing, but I did not want to go back to get them as it’s kind of a long drive. And they didn’t refund me either. I think the main problem is they’re under staffed, or maybe new staff, but get it together Sushi Town, you’re losing customers.

Usto be my families favorite spot. Now there are major discrepancies between the price on the menue and what they charge. Example is the wild salmon roll is 6.59 on the menue but over 11.00 on the bill. No disclosure when ordering. Ontop of that portions have gone down and things like the Dynamite roll no longer have crab in it.
Very disappointed in the recent service too. The waiters dont seem to understand their own menue and dont check up on you, you havto flag them down. Often bring out food for just one person at the table while the others havto wait. Basic service expectation are lacking.

What happened to my favorite place. Not even worth to write how bad my experience was at sushi town in North Van. Seems like no one knows what they are doing. Really! What happened people! Why Miso soup, wasabi and ginger takes 1 hour to serve…everything took FOREVER to come out and staff don’t care at all. It wasn’t even busy… It was pointless to talk to them as they had no idea what I was talking about. Go to Coquitlam one. X100 better experience.

Good sushi, but some red flags: there was no salmon available (just the wild one). The tuna was served partially frozen. The others fishes were fine The service was a little slow (maybe because of the holiday time).

We had a very disappointing experience. The sushi rice was noticeably hard, almost like it was undercooked or had been left out too long and dried. Because it felt off, we mentioned it to the server and asked if it could be replaced. Unfortunately, the second dish came out the same way, the rice was still hard and unpleasant to eat-so we requested a refund.
What made the experience worse was the server’s attitude. His facial expression and behavior were very rude. When there is an issue with food, it’s normal for staff to ask what happened, speak with the kitchen, and explain the situation to the customer. We received no explanation at all, not even a brief comment about whether something was wrong with the rice or why it tasted that way.
Instead, the plates were taken away abruptly, and no one came to speak with us afterward. No apology, no clarification, nothing.
For a restaurant in Canada, the level of service was shocking. honestly the service was worse than a one-star hotel. We were truly surprised by how poorly this was handled.
There are plenty of good sushi restaurants in Vancouver, and there’s no reason to come here. I’ve eaten at many sushi places, and this one is easily in the bottom three.
