I pulled into the McDonald’s drive-thru bright and early, the only car in sight. I sat there for five full minutes — no greeting, no “we’ll be right with you,” nothing but dead silence. Finally, I asked politely, “Hey, you guys open?”
The response? A curt, dismissive “Yeah, if you hold on.” No apology, no acknowledgment of the wait, just attitude.
Translation: “We’re open, but we’d rather pretend you don’t exist. We’ll get to you when we feel like it.”
That was the breaking point. I didn’t even bother ordering — I drove off.
Listen, if I wanted to be ignored, I’d call my cat. If I wanted attitude before coffee, I’d just talk to my ex. But when I pull into a drive-thru, I expect at least the bare minimum: acknowledgment that I exist.
McDonald’s, if you can’t manage basic customer service when there’s literally only one other car in line, what hope is there when the place is busy? A drive-thru should be fast, friendly, and efficient. Instead, I got ignored, brushed off, and left annoyed enough to take my money elsewhere. You’re welcome Burger King.
If this is the standard now, it’s no wonder people are flocking to your competitors. Do better. You should change your slogan to “I’m Leavin’ It.”
UPDATE: Thanks for the copy‑paste link, “owner.” Nothing says “we value your feedback” like outsourcing it to a corporate boilerplate. That’s the digital equivalent of shrugging while flipping me off.
It doesn’t just prove my point — it screams that the problem with your location is top‑down indifference. It’s not even a real response.
If you can’t respond like a human, then that explains why your drive‑thru is staffed by clowns who treat customers like an inconvenience, and why your location needs new ownership.
Looks like me and Arc Man dealt with the same person. This employee probably needs to be let go if it’s this common
Last week, I ordered a breakfast sandwich at 1045 and drove to McDonald’s. I had to wait in the line and didn’t get to the front until 11:04. The cashier told me I’m not going to get my food because it’s after 11. I said okay, but I already paid on the app and asked what to do. She gave me my receipt and told me to pull up and they might give it to me. I did as instructed and the lady at the second window was extremely rude to me. She was shaming me for ordering breakfast food during their lunch rush. Okay, the app allowed me to do so. I said it wasn’t a big deal and asked for a refund and the told me I had to speak with a manager. I asked for the manager and she said he was busy… okay. I left frazzled and called the number on the receipt for a refund. The last I spoke to said she would forward the info to the manager and they would call me back within 48 hours. It’s been over a week.
Today, I go back to order a breakfast sandwich. It’s a sausage egg and cheese bagel. When I open my sandwich in the parking lot, there is no egg and it is cold. The inside is closed, so I had to go back through the drive through line. When I get to the front, I show the lady my sandwich and explain it’s missing egg. This is the same worker who was rude to me before. She tells me I need to give her the receipt, which thankfully I had, and to give her back the sandwich. The manager comes and asks if I want him just to put egg on the platter and to give me back the sandwich, or make a whole new one. I asked for a new one. The manager runs the sandwich out to me, and I am convinced they just plopped egg on the one I handed him back.
*The reason I have gone back several times is because I’m pregnant and this is my one craving. I’m done with this location now.
