Katelynn at Applebees on Johnston street is one of the best waitresses we have ever had. My husband is British and ordered hot tea. Without asking for it, she asked if he would like milk or cream in his tea and made sure there was sugar in the table. She was so attentive, kind, and pleasant. And this goes for the entire staff this Tuesday evening.

We have not been in years. Always love it but this time everything was off. Took forever to get a waitress funky smell and took forever for food to come out. Then the worst thing happened later that evening I started vomiting for hours. Stomach pains so bad finally a trip to the ER. The only thing I had yesterday yesterday was Applebee’s. Just thought y’all should know to maybe check the hamburger patties

Went on a Friday night for dinner. Overall, it was okay. Nothing to blow your mind but it is what it is.
Location: a bit awkward (we are from out of town). We actually passed up and accidentally pulled into the wrong parking lot. There were plenty of parking spots available.
Atmosphere: comfortable. The seating layout of the whole restaurant is in the shape of a “U” with the bar in the middle. It did kind of suck sitting right next to the host station because that was in my ear the entire time (hearing complaining, wait times, phone calls).
Service: pretty absent. We only saw our waitress to take our order and bring our ticket. Otherwise, other staff members assisted. Even when leaving, we asked for a Togo box and the waitress seemed to have forgotten (brought back payment and walked off to chat with a nearby table- possibly friends)
Food: plenty to choose from- steaks, shrimp, fish, chicken, ribs, salads, pasta, burgers, sandwiches, soups, mac & cheese, potatoes, veggies, etc. Prices are about $10-25 depending on what you get. I ordered the bourbon street steak with mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. It was okay- my steak needed better/more seasoning. The sides were decent. My friend said her mac & cheese was cold.
Overall, it was just okay. Nothing spectacular. Prices were okay and wait time was quick (20 minutes). Service wasn’t that great, food lacked seasoning. I would return and try something different, but it wouldn’t be my first choice as a restaurant if I have options.

It was kinda quiet but we did go there for Christmas so…… My girl loved the mashed potatoes! The burger was big and flavorful and filling. Their fries were delicious. We both ate for less than $30 and that’s saying something.

Total price with tip of 15=$41.00-Door dash order – order was a small steak, honey chipotle chicken with 4 cheese Mac n cheese and loaded mashed potatoes. Steak was ok. Mac n cheese is ok; but, only where the chicken sat on top- the rest is dry with no cheese on it. The honey chipotle chicken is like chicken nuggets with sauce on them, very little sauce and well nothing to even comment on except I could have done that myself with some chicken nuggets from the freezer. The loaded mashed potatoes have no flavor. Never ate at Applebees before- probably won’t again. Really not at all worth the price. Not at all.

We went in tonight after trick or treating. Our waitress was absolutely the sweetest. Never had an issue with waitress staff. I ordered the new bourbon chicken and sausage penne. We ordered cheese sticks and the cheese sticks were not even coated completely or crispy seemed not fresh at all. The noodles were undercooked, it was way over seasoned, and I took two bites of the chicken and all I got was bites of pile of seasoning. My stomach was burning. Waitress took the food and off the ticket and I ordered the chicken parm Alfredo to go. My fiancé got the bourbon steak rare and literally choked twice on the steak. He had a pile of straight garlic on top that it was so much it was stuck in his nose and was horrible. We got home and I start eating my chicken parm and it’s horrible. I taste horrible grease and the noodles again are not cooked all the way. Whatever seasoning they put on it it looks like the lid popped off and it poured on my food. I use to love Applebees but the quality of their food has gotten so bad. I never make reviews on things but this experience was so bad I just couldn’t let it go unseen. Almost wondering if this is why the restaurant is so slow these days. 2 meals just for myself and I can’t eat either one of them.

Glen, our waiter, seemed to have a great rapport with the patrons at all of the tables he serviced nearby.
The Blondie apple pie dessert was very good, too. I think this might be my late-evening dessert spot.
